Stourbridge Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Christchurch

I normally go to the fish and chip shop by Barrington but went to this one instead tonight and it wasn’t a good experience. I clearly asked for 2 crabsticks and a few other things, but somehow the lady at the front heard 2 fish instead. The whole reason I went to the fish and chip shop was for crabsticks and I didn’t even end up getting any thanks to her. When I asked about it she said I ordered 2 fish, but I’m not stupid I know exactly what I said and so does the person I was with. I definitely did not say 2 fish. How do you mishear a 2 syllable word as a 1 syllable word?? She just walked away then said the fish was already cooking so she couldn’t refund the money or give me crabsticks instead. It’s not my fault that you heard fish instead of crabstick so why should I have to suffer because of your mistake?? I don’t like fish and it smelt a bit off so obviously I didn’t eat it and wasted $8 but the chips were good. Pretty bummed by the experience tbh as there’s a point where you need to admit your mistake and not just blame it on the customer. I know the customer isn’t always right but you should take accountability...

Haven't been here for nearly 20 years. The half scoop I got was HUGE, looks like they make their own crinkle cuts, not greasy AT ALL. Tasted like potatoes, not oil or fish. The fish piece was big, the fish inside thin, but not dry. The hot dog was the kind you can get anywhere. The bacon burger.. good beef pattie, not rubbery and just tasting of onions. Which is good! The bacon was thickly cut, not rasher. OK, but not my fave kind. The choc explosion donut was pretty dang perfect. Jam with melted choc inside. Overall, one of the better F&C shops in my area, will try again. Sadly, no pics....

We ordered a fish, a chicken burger and chips. The chips were tasty. However, the fish was small and I found a long black hair mixed into the batter and cooked into my fish. My partner had the burger which he said tasted ok but it had minimal salad i.e one small old piece of tomato and a few semi-cooked onion. Would not go...
