I was lucky enough to swindle Black Friday off work so called in to The Coffee Club Hornby after brutually ransacking Briscoes shelves for their "never to be repeated" sales and was most pleasantly welcomed by a happy employee behind the counter. One thing I noticed immediately was the decor, very tasteful yet not over the top. They have done well with what they have got, and a great location slightly away from the busy mall!
I used my voucher to acquire a meal and glass of Pinot Gris...did I mention they were licenced? Ya had me at "How may I help you?"
I then proceeded to find myself a seat, the bench style seats didn't sit well with me so I placed myself next to the fireplace. Lovely and warm and cosy!
I ordered the fish and chips which came out promptly given they were over half capacity inside...a busy days trading no doubt! The young lady which presented the meal had not had any interaction with me thus far and yet she asked me how my day was going so far as she proceeded to place the meal down, which I thought was most charming. I have dined in 5 star restaurants and have not had any waiter nor waitress running food capable of building instant rapport so quickly and effortlessly when only delivering a meal, most just dump and run. Kudos! She has been trained well, as I observed her run meals and clear and clean tables with efficiency.
The meal itself was presented well with a lovely accompanying salad with dressing, and topped with crumbled feta...my favourite! I started with that and munched my way through a meal that whilst it may not be hard to not screw up the traditional fish and chips, many do! This was however most satisfactory and cooked and drained well, with good sized portions offering value for money, and I felt full, not stuffed.
I browsed the wine and beer list and it was certainly a fine selection, not the widest range of wines however they were clearly carefully selected as I was pleased with all options. The Ned Pinot Gris was up to standard as always.
The cabinet food all looked scrumptious as well, but I love how they have a broad selection of freshly prepared/cooked to order menu items as well.
In all my years of hospitality management it is hard to please a man such as myself, even if only calling past to gain sustenance for further shopping endeavours, yet this wee gem met and exceeded my expectations. Well done to you and your team at The Coffee Club Hornby, I will most certainly be back!

Read moreIf im being honest, I was dissapointed, ive been to other coffee clubs and I have always been pleased with the food until today, I ordered a cheese bacon and caramelised onion open omelette, what I received was a poorly cooked egg pancake with no cheese. The texture was spongy as if it had been cooked at low heat with no oil. It was awful, tasted the part too. The caramel macchiato I ordered in the stead of my original drink which they didn't have was 3 parts syrup to 2 parts coffee and was cold, which I dont understand either. The service was OK I guess but they were moreso like if your not ready to order g9 sit down, there's menus at the tables when I stood looking at the menus behind her head. Poor table service, the waitresses spent most of their time at the back or behind the counter with one on the computer and the other one just pretty much standing around and talking to her. Read moreI visited the Coffee Club in Hornby 16/06/2025and ordered a cappuccino with almond milk. Unfortunately, the coffee was excessively hot and had a burnt taste, which was quite disappointing. To make matters worse, the service was unfriendly. Hopefully, they can improve their offerings and customer service in the future. Second time bad experience .
