Tudor Restaurant, nestled in the quaint Ye Olde English Heartland Cotsworld Hotel on the bustling Papanui Road, is an exquisite local haven more and more of the good people of Christchurch ought to put on their dinning bucket list. The menu may seem at odds with it's Old England theme and rustically preserved dining area but it is nevertheless very appetising. Their pea and leek arancini balls truly had us salivating and their lentil and mushroom lasagna was fit for a new world King. The main portions were incredibly gregarious and we accompanied these with two sumptuous sides: one a potato and kumara gratin and the other a platter of roasted veges. Both were very appetising even though we felt a creamy sauce would have complemented the gratin. The gravy that came with the gravy was tasty and nicely condimented. Our waiter was exceptional and served us with a polished and professional standard splashed with a dash of human warmth. We were recommended a wonderful brew (Emerson's) we'd never tried before and this accentuated the joy of our dinning. I'd definitely love to return with my carnivorous palate to try one of their meat orientated dishes. A friend tells me their thrice cooked pork is heavenly. A wonderful performance, a charming ambience and all our requests were met. Please pass our regards on to your...
Read moreOrdered a steak medium rare, it took over an hour to come. I was excited , thinking that it must be amazing due to the time it had taken to cook it. However then it arrived. A flat, squashed, dried out blob of cold leather. However, hungry and tired I decided I would give it a go. Unfortunately my nice shiny butter knife failed to penetrate the rubbery placenta on my plate. The waiter kindly brought me a steak knife (I was hoping for a machette). I managed to fight off a piece of the end of the meat and get it onto my fork. Huge mistake......as I began to chew, my teeth began to crack at the impenetrable object in front of me. I was confused at what I had ordered! I usually have a medium rare, had I ordered it extra rubbery by mistake? Or had I asked for it to be dry as a bastard?? Needless to say I left my meal and grabbed a handful of the complimentary mints by the bar to see me through...
Read moreWent for my dadâs birthday and the food was wonderful, the area has many parks and is decorated very gorgeous with wall decor, roof and statues. The food and drinks were also amazing well cooked and came with good timing not a long wait for food. The proportions were also done very well as the sides felt like the sizes of a full meal in itself couldnât even finish the food! All meats were cooked perfectly, and the âkidsâ menu is very worth it as shown the chicken burger is a massive burger with a side of chips the kids struggled to finish. I would recommend getting the kids the $20 set as it is worth it.
The service was also done amazing they were very sweet and kind and were very patient. was also very accomodating to the kids with crayons and colouring pages. Had a tall lad not sure his name but had amazing service commend him for how he treated...
