The good: The steak is absolutely amazing. Best I have ever had in NZ. It was perfect. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service was top notch. No complaints.
The medium: One of the items we ordered didn't came however we had enough food and they had no problem taking it off our bill so it was all fine.
The "could be better": I don't know what it is with NZ and their salads and veggies. There is just never any love there. The veggies are cooked fine, but there is no seasoning, no sauce, no love at all for those veggies. Even just roasting them with some salt would have made a huge difference or even just a splash of olive oil? Anything really. The garlic mash is also so dry. No butter or gravy or anything to moist it up a little. The sauce on the steak was absolutely amazing but so little. There was only enough sauce for about half of the steak. It's does seem that most NZ restaurants do this though, everything is super dry and without much love for sides.
The bad: The leftovers was put into foil. And not a foil container, like straight up foil they then fold around the food. Nobody wants aluminum to touch all your food, it's poisonous. Plus trying to get mash out off foil afterwards is gross.
Would we return? Absolutely. For the steak. But I might sneak in some butter to put in my mash...
Read moreMe and my wife made a reservation to celebrate her birthday the staff were very friendly the atmosphere was great but the food was completely underwhelming and overpriced for what it was. My wife ordered scallops half of them were fine but the other half were uneatable. My 17 dollar appetiser was "buffalo wings" which turned out to be 7 supermarket chicken wings with stringy slimey skin. When our mains arrived things didn't improve at all my wife's scotch filet steak was riddled with gristle and was far to chewy for her to finish. I ordered a sirloin steak which was even worse half of it was fat and gristle so I also could not finish my meal. I have never been to a restaurant like this and not been able to finish my meal. I brought all this up with the waitress she took our plates back to the kitchen and we received a 40 dollar discount. For me it wasn't so much about the money we ended up spending on this terrible food it was more that it was my wife's birthday and we really Don't get to eat out much these days so this was really disappointing. We definitely won't be returning to this restaurant and hopefully we can have a better experience elsewhere for my wife's...
Read moreWe have been long time supporters of Bazza's. Since they opened in Pukekohe. And spend quite a bit when we do order as we see it as a treat (Well into the thousands over the last 10 years). Decided to get take away for valentines, as hubby is not feeling too well. Our order was over $100 which these days is quite a bit for take away. And this is the second time my order was missing items. The first time, we just left it as mistakes happen, but last night decided to call (Called 3 times) upon realizing it happened again, to which there was no answer, so had to refuel vehicle and drive back. The counter person was apologetic, but what was the most disappointing, is when he went to talk to the kitchen (Owner Fraser) was shaking his head whilst getting the rest of the order. Feeling so let down and disrespected, We have vowed not to support them ever again. My advice would be to remember that customers can see reactions when you have an open kitchen and for customers to check your orders before you leave, it probably cost me more to drive there, but thought it would be taken as a learning moment. Not a...
