Shalimar - The Indian Lounge — Restaurant in Franklin

Review of Shalimar Pukekohe. I actually wanted to email you guys, but there is no email address on your website. Firstly, let me say as a vegetarian I am often bored with what's on offer from Indian restaurants, but USUALLY your Jalfrezi and Aloo Gobi are amazing. However, recently the variety of food that comes out of the kitchen is crazy. I don't know how many different cooks you have, but it's become really hit and miss quality-wise. This culminated in a really poor take away experience on Saturday October 2nd (pick up notification said 8.22pm in case you need to look). To start with the guy on the front desk (who wasn't wearing a mask) handed me a bag covered in sauce. When I asked him to replace it, he actually asked me to help him put it in another bag as he couldn't do this himself. But worse still, I always order HOT for my curries and when I got this food home it was about as spicy as a bowl of cereal. No spice at all; could have been Italian food. To make matters worse, the Aloo Gobi tasted of cooking oil - the char had obviously been achieved by some kind of frying and nothing to do with a tandoor or roasting the veg. Last night we had an exceptional experience at this restaurant! The service provided by Gajendra was outstanding - he warmly welcomed us with a smile and went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable evening, especially since my wife wasn't in the best mood when we arrived. His attentiveness and professionalism made all the difference, and we left feeling very satisfied with the service we received.

The food was also amazing - everything we ordered was utterly delicious and exceeded our expectations. The quality of the ingredients and the careful preparation were apparent in every bite. Additionally, the cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant were impressive. It was evident that the staff took great care in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for their guests.

Almost a month ago, we had stopped in for the first time to get takeaway meals for dinner at home. When we got home we found the meals were inedible and called the restaurant right away to inform them, in case any other customer meals had been affected. The manager apologised, was an honest mistake, and said to pop in when we're in the area again to get food again, on the house. Today we picked up our food and brought it home.
