Arang Korean Restaurant — Restaurant in Hamilton

This wasn’t our first time here. We ordered an appetiser and asked to be served first but they came with the mains already which we didn’t bother anymore as we were hungry. However one of our orders was the Ox Bone Soup which described on their menu as meaty and savoury soup but it tasted bland. I asked it to be returned privately as there might be a mistake and I don’t want to make a big deal however this lady came back with a loud voice causing the other customers to look at us. She said it’s supposed to taste that way, even questioned me if I had it before. It was so embarrassing, she made me feel ignorant and thought it was not up to my taste palate so just put salt. It literally tasted nothing even the noodles and the meat, I tried to salvage it with salt but still not worth what I paid for. The rest of what we ordered were fine. Changing review - ordered food takeaway tonight and was appalled at the taste and quality all for $70 for 3 items. Barely qualified as Korean flavour... it was like the takeaway orders were served from frozen. When we ordered, they said 15 mins for Seafood pancake, spicy pork and chicken popcorn and spicy beef soup. That was quite surprising on a Friday night we thought - was expecting 40 mins as least. They forgot our soup order but didn't charge, the spicy pork was watery and barely any spicy(have had better at night markets), seafood pancake barely any seafood or flavour and my husband said it's like they deep fried it frozen and the popcorn chicken was shocking more flour than chicken and I've eaten Korean chicken all over Auckland and Hamilton. I was treated to Arang by a friend to celebrate his promotion and my husband and I were also celebrating our 15th Wedding anniversary. Our server was amazing, she showed us how to eat each dish and the set up of each course was done so fast, she was very honest when we asked about each dish, she was very knowledgeable about the menu which is a very refreshing change. My favorite would have to be the corn pancake (caution this has peas in it usually not a fan but didn't even mind them) , very cheesy usually cannot handle dairy but this dish is sooo tasty.
