Spur-of-the-moment decision to pop in for dessert with my daughter and her boyfriend, as I had a birthday voucher to use. It was very busy with lots of families and larger groups (which is great to see) but we were happy to sit in the bar area so were seated immediately. Given how busy it was, the service was still great (very attentive) and I didn’t think the wait time was too bad. And the desserts were worth waiting for anyway - you can always rely on LoneStar for generous portion sizes and consistently delicious flavours. I don’t always use the free vouchers or promotional discounts I receive from various companies, but using the voucher on this occasion meant it was a very economical spontaneous treat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice restaurant and good service. Unfortunately food taste / value is average for the steak as this place I assume is primary a steak house. We had 2 types of Stir Crazy Sirloin and Paris Texas. Sirloin was very chewy for medium and had to return (no charge so that was good). Then ordered Honky Tonk Chicken which was better than the steak. Kids had hero burger and fish and chips which they loved. Dessert included Creme Brulee and Banoffee Pie. Creme Brulee was excellent and would highly recommend that. Mocktail Drinks were probably not worth it. Over all 3/5 for taste and value but 5/5for service and ambiance. sorry picture quality isn't very great due to dim lights.

Ten of us visited Lone star for dinner. The place was nearly empty. Lots of seats were available. We had made reservations but we were able to choose the seating when we arrived. This was great. The atmosphere is great, the Lone Star architecture has a lot of stain that brings out a western outlook. The food was nice but mains are more than $30 plus. You can also order two entrees to make up your mains. My only negative feedback is this: it would be good if all the food came out together so we can start together. Some main came out after 10 to 15 minutes and by this time some of our colleagues were just finishing their meals. Otherwise, all good. Cheers

This particular experience was terrible and I heard it has new owners, it certainly showed!

We were a large group 28 people. We pre-ordered half meals as per suggestion from management since there was another large group, and they wanted to ensure service of food within a timely manner.

An hour after being seated, we were told our food would be another 50mins away, this would meant 2 hours after booking time (including pre ordered food).

Obviously while waiting for food that meant ordering more drinks. That was a complete mess up too. Some waited 45 mins to an hour for a handle of beer. We had a bar tab on, and it felt like forever to receive drinks. We ended up waiting at the bar and most likely pressured the few bar tenders but who wants to wait 45 mins to an hour for a drink, at the simplest a glass of Pepsi! This was appalling.

I take my hat off to the waiters who dealt with us, they did well considering we as a group became frustrated.

Some meals were great, others were burnt. And a lot of follow up on missing food happened too much. Watch what your billed for, we ended up with extra meals that were never received.

This restaurant really needs a lot of work. Too much staff floundering all on different pages.

Based on this dining experience I would not recommend going here with large groups even if they say they can cater to the groups needs.

Please note the restaurant was not overly packed. Our same large group dined at this same restaurant back with the old owners and the restaurant was choker full, the service was excellent, the time of order vs serving was acceptable and the food was delicious.

Our family will not be returning here any time soon. Wish the experience was different as we all love a good...

I have counted Lone Star at Rototuna as one of my favorites for many years... but not sure I will go back after last Friday. We arrived around 6:45... it was a twenty minute wait for a table... though we could see many tables available. I placed my order for chicken Cajun GF and DF but wasn't told that I wouldnt have the chili rice as I had in previous visits. When it finally arrived at approx 9:15... at least 2 hours after we ordered... in the dim lighting I thought I had been given the wrong plate...maybe some one else's... then I realized the black meat was not steak...with buffalo chips but burnt chicken....mostly covered in the sauce. Then our hostess told me it would be a half hour wait for mine to be redone.... I began to way up whether it was worth waiting as we had imagined we would have time to do something else before 10pm but that was looking impossible now. We also had some friends with us with an 11 year old and it was getting very late for her. Then another hostess came and said it would be 5 mins... I thought that was great at the time... but by the way I am feeling now... 36 hours later.... I think they must have just scrapped the black stuff of the chicken, reheated it and immersed in the sauce exchanged the buffalo chips for the chili rice and brought it back to me. They had asked my friend if she was Celiac but not me.... so was it the reheated chicken that has made me unwell or the chili rice? I have to say the hostess we had for the night was very nice though communication about what a GF and DF option would be helpful. I think the trouble was in the kitchen. We weren't charged for the chicken Cajun but it was a nasty experience... I'm very...

Free parking behind the building. Was told there would be a 45 minute wait, to be seated.(usual for the lonestar) one hour 30, later. Then almost half hour wait for the meals. My parents both had the veal. Sadly both their meals were cold. The waiter offered 2 drinks off the tab. However there were no drinks on the tab, because during the wait to be seated staff refused to put drinks on a tab until we were seated for the meal. So all drinks, had before the meal were paid upfront. Put aside the 2 hour wait, cold meals served.. The food is delicious. I always have the Dixie chicken. Glad to see potato mash served instead of roasted potato. Salad is always good. And the extra portion of sauce for the chicken was generous. My son had the. 9 ribs and fries. He was very full and enjoyed his meal. (both our meals were hot..but having my parents at the table without their plates was awkward) desserts were the pavlova and khalua cheesecake. Both excellent I've been told. Warm cosy place. Sadly lacking in promptness. 2hrs.. For a meal.... Longest wait ever at a restaurant!!!!! A warm thanks to the waiter, who unexpectedly found me a chair, while I stood waiting, for a table. Chivalry isn't...
