I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chim Thai for lunch, and I must say that it was an amazing experience. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance of the place was warm and welcoming, with beautiful decor and soft lighting that set the tone for a relaxing meal.

The food was undoubtedly the highlight of my visit. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor, and it was clear that the owner and chefs had put a lot of effort into creating authentic and delicious Thai cuisine. The Pad Thai was simply incredible, with perfectly cooked noodles, juicy shrimp, and a tangy sauce that was a delight to savour. We also ordered the crispy pork belly and crispy prawn, both were equally impressive, pork belly was tasty and tender, prawns were huge in size and loved the dipping source! Another highlight was the lychee mojito, a very fancy drink with eye catching presentation, it has a refreshing and zesty flavour, prefect for hot summer days.

In addition to the amazing food, the service was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations and ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

For 4 adults n 2 kids we ordered pad Thai, seafood sizzling (ocean pad cha), green curries, rolls, wrap, soup, master Thai, virgin mojitos (not worth ordering). The total was 233 nzd. Although food did get left over but I felt the value for money wasn’t there. It’s a typical Thai food taste that u could order at any takeaway, so why pay 25$ approx a dish. Chicken is halal on a positive side. Questionable worth the money but definitely worth visiting once.

So after 6 yrs here we come again. Food quality has certainly improved but so have the prices.

Tom yum chicken - 28$ / quantity is less for the price Chicken sizzling was good 29$ Crispy prawns were the best but also at 45$ Chicken pad Thai 26$ - same serving size as 2018 Black pepper prawn 38$ - not worth it Chicken Vege - 26& Mango another 14$ - totally avoid Sprite 5$ Bundaberg -6$

Last Tuesday, the 8th of July 2025, we had a dinner with 60 people after my husband’s professorial lecture. It was a great menu each and every one really enjoyed. They were well organised and did an amazing job with serving. Lots of people from Christchurch, Napier, Auckland and Australia. They all said, they had best Thai food. My family really appreciate your amazing tasty food, very friendly staff and really organised serving with this big gathering 👍. Thank you so much Ella for all what you did with your team. I didn’t have to worry about anything as you took over the whole responsibility. For our next function definitely we will come to Chim Thai.
