NEW OWNERS HAVE RUINED WHAT WAS THE BEST FISH & CHIP SHOP IN HAMILTON HANDS DOWN!!!

Friday 14th September 4:00pm.

Ordered 2 fish. 1 Hoki $3.50 and 1 Tarakihi $5.50 = $9

I collected and packet felt VERY LIGHT. I should've opened it there. Instead I went home (2 minutes away) opened it up and was p#ssed off at how SMALL they were! Definitely NOT $9 WORTH!! MORE $5!!

I took a photo (photo below) then took them back untouched and asked, "is this the size of your fish now?", She replied "Yes". So I asked for my money back, but was blatantly refused!.

I said "the previous owners Paul would never dish up fish this small". She ignored me and just wanted me to go away, but she wasn't refunding my $9.

After 20 minutes of NO SOLUTION, I threw the packet on the counter in disgust and said keep it! If you can't look after your regular customers I'll go elsewhere! I left with no refund and no fish.

Another lady customer saw my 2 fish and said "Hell that's not $9 worth!"

A week before I ordered a toasted sandwich, the bread was still white with a little toasted in the middle and took a photo of that too, (photo below)

WHY DID THE PREVIOUS OWNERS PAUL HAVE TO LEAVE US????? 😥😥😥

The cynical side of me was wondering how long before the NEW owners RUIN IT?, It didn't take them long! Fish portions have DOWNSIZED!!

The NEW owners are NOTHING on the previous owners PAUL from Christchurch. THEY SET the STANDARD and were GENEROUS on their fish sizes! THEY gave the shop it's WELL DESERVED 10 OUT OF 10 REPUTATION, HENCE IT'S POPULARITY!!

But that's been RUINED GOOD AND PROPER!!

Even the 2ND OWNERS after Paul were good! The tall Asian man KEPT THE SAME FISH SIZES, TOASTED the sandwiches PERFECT and was a good bloke too!

I live in the area and was a regular, but this NEW LOT HAS NO IDEA about CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!! The Fish are halved but the price remains the same!

I won't return, the FAMILY won't return and talking to the NEIGHBORS even THEY won't return.

If you brought your fish from Paul and enjoyed his GENEROUS SIZE portions, DON'T EXPECT the same today!

WAY TO RUIN A GOOD THING!! 👍

I went to oxford takeaways today and my whanau usually really enjoy their kai. My whanau ordered a few burgers with our meal and first off let me say I have always enjoyed the hot chips from oxford takeaway they never disappoint. But the burgers for 5.50 a double pattie burger and for 4.50 or 5.00 a cheese burger. I'm so sorry to say but absolutely disappointed. Not worth the money the supposed chow sauce that's unique to them the lady couldnt even tell me what was in it. I said is it like chow chow she said I dont know. The great part was she swapped the chow sauce for mayo for free but the sad part was the mayo tasted wierd almost off or watered down. My partners double meat pattie was made poor and we ended up throwing away 3 unbeatable burgers. I did ring and give feedback and the worker did say next time you come in I give you free stuff. But how would you know? you didnt even ask for any of my details. Unfortunately I will not be back again after today and I will share my truthfull experience with anyone who asks me about...

Oxford Takeaways would probably one of the best fish and chips shop I've been. The owner was really generous and accomodating. If you don't know what fish you are buying, he will gladly show you the picture and give you a bit of info about it. He was using a thin batter for the fish so it was truly "more of a fish" unlike other shops. It was the owner's business for fifty years hence, he really know his fish.

My wife and I ordered the Elephant Fish which, according to the owner, came from the South Island. It was delicious and distinct from the other fish. We had a chance to taste their Hoki which is famous in all fish and chips shops here in Auckland. With pride and glory, the owner stated that their Hoki is really fresh and delicious compared to the ones sold here. True enough, it was tastier and it doesn't taste like an "old stock".

I would recommend Oxford Takeaways to my family...
