This cafe was a delightful find, as we only went here as we happened to notice it while walking down the main drag. Despite knowing there was a great option just around the corner we decided to give this place a go, and it turned out to be a dlgreat decision. The interior was nicely decorated, but not only that but it was a very kid friendly establishment as well. They have a little play area for younger kids, which is something I've not seen often in cafes in New Zealand, but a great addition. The only trouble with the play area was the toddlers were more interested in playing than eating. My wife and I both got the Rosti Bene and it was the perfect brunch. Well cooked and yummy. It was filling too, which was a good thing as the day as we ended up being busier than expected, so it was the only real meal we had until dinner that night. The staff were friendly, and able to negotiate around kids going to and from the play area with ease. It was relatively busy when we went in, so we were told our food from the kitchen was going to take longer than normal, but we were pleasantly surprised when it came out in a normal wait time. I think this place is well worth a visit if you're in the area, especially if you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou know that sinking feeling when you wake up feverishly hungry, decide to treat yourself to brunch out, and then the food arrives and you just think what the F is this? We both ordered the classic eggs bene, and my dreams of a good brunch were shattered by what arrived at the table. Served on a quality bakers English muffin which feels very lazy/cheap, we requested the bacon to be cooked on the crispy side and apparently the chef took this to mean cook it until itās blackened and so hard it crumbles to bacon flavoured ash under my knife. If we hadnāt been quite so famished Iād have asked to send it back, or at the very least a steak knife to saw through the hardened strips of what used to be bacon. Also, caution to the hungry, portions were veeery stingy and more of a snack for those of us that like to eat. In fairness, the eggs were poached nicely and the Hollandaise was beautiful. Last thing before I forget this place exists, itās generally not a good idea to allow other patrons to smoke cigarettes within a metre or two of people who are eating your food. Absolutely no one asked for a side of second hand smoke...

I got the mushroom and beetroot salads and found them quite vinegary there was a lot of liquid left in the bottom of my bowl. But my husband enjoyed his open chicken sandwich very much. They now keep the coffee cards on their system which I guess we have to keep asking how many coffee's we have had to get our free one, also you have to remember to tell them before the order is totalled as they cannot add it once its done which I found frustrating as this is the second coffee I haven't been able to add towards my free one as it has to be put through before it is rung...
