Manly Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

Ok, let me start off with saying the food was excellent. And the menu was great for Ceoliacs like my daughter and I. Sadly they lost all my respect with the service. Went here for a birthday dinner with a large group of 14 people, table was set ready to go. After everyone arrived we ordered our food. 7.30pm, just remember that time. We were told a big group like ours could take awhile. Well, awhile was 2 hours! 3 times we were told our food was 15min away, I had to take my kids home at 9.00pm as they were hungry, tired and getting grumpy, so were most of the adults. And my eldest daughter never got fed. I returned 25mins later, still no food! The dinner when served took 30min from first plate to the last, so first to eat were watching the last just start. Terrible service. Went to pay the bill, this is where MBG you redeem yourselves, sadly no. No apology, not even a Our bad. Paid in full, a discount, maybe take the drinks off the bill, nothing. If you had done this simple thing, the long delay would've been forgotten. $190 dollars (just our share of over $700) waiting 2 hours for food, sorry not good enough. They say the customer is always right, but this customer will just never be back, it is a shame that a Kiwi has to be blunt about a kiwi bar and grill, but you did yourselves no favours. Will tell all future customers to be wary of the service.

My friends and I had a reservation at manly bar and grill for 3pm, online they stated they opened at 12pm but when I showed up at 3 on the dot the doors were locked, lights off and nobody was inside. We called prior and tried to book for 2.30 but the person on the phone insisted on us booking at 3 so that they would be fully set up. Once somebody did come open the door for me they were still setting up, taking chairs down, no music and extremely unprepared. We wanted to ordered drinks first but our waiter stated the bartender wasn’t here yet and wed either need to wait or order food instead. We decided to wait for the bartender which was another 5-10 minutes. Once we had received our drinks one of my friends wanted to order a pizza but our waiter told them pizzas couldn’t be made until 4.15pm which was stated NO WHERE on the menu or told to us earlier. Also, Ive included some images below that were very upsetting to my friends and I. The food was burnt and glasses were unclean which made us hesitant to drink from them. Had the opportunity to visit this amazing restaurant with my family on a weeknight and here are my comments:

For starters, the staff was very welcoming and caring. There was not a moment where my glass was empty and we were never left unattended despite the volume of customers. The ambiance was soothing and relaxing, good lighting and had a zen vibe to it which is what I usually look for when I want to enjoy my food. The food was incredible! Great portions and the taste… Oh my god!! I tried their chili caramel pork belly appetizer; for main course the macadamia crusted lamb rum and for dessert the sticky date bread pudding. The meats were cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful served with a side of salad and sweet potato that made the on the spot companionship. The dessert was to die for! Warm bread pudding with a delicious glassed that went perfect with the ice cream. Great variety of cocktails and selection of wines. I myself wanted a local wine and the manager was kind enough to provide suggestions that went perfectly with my meal.

Needless to say…just remembering this meal makes my mouth water! I highly recommend you visit this restaurant if you are ever in the...
