King‘s Barbecue Restaurant — Restaurant in Howick

We as loyal customers, feel really disappointed about the service and management. We recommended our friends to go there for a birthday outing. I made a booking for 10 people with a baby. Firstly when we went there , there weren’t enough chairs setup for us or the kids. Secondly the service was very unfriendly. They made us order our own food.We ordered for 24 lamb and 20 beef skewers for ten of us which means we can only get two skewers each with the potion being small. When we wanted to order more the owner refused to serve anymore even though they had back up at the back. We were told those skewers are reserved for customers later as they were afraid they would run of out skewers. There were no signs to say the limited order. When we tired to talk nicely with owner she just tucked it up. This is not how you do the hospitality service. Usually if they have confirmed the number of reserved customers they should prepare enough rather than have this excuse....

I went to the other one, 东北小串王 at the corner next to the Korean restaurant. I believe it’s not meat soup, but rather pure water when I ordered spicy hotpot. My homemade is much better than theirs. That’s not the worst. If you order delivery, you don’t get to see the hygiene in their shop. I wondered if there’s anyone should report to of this concern. Its terrible. The waitress ( owner maybe ) made the skewers while she is eating and talking with her friend, no gloves or masks. Table and seats seems not been cleaned. Where you choose your own food counter was terribly presented. Meats are frozen, some food look like sitting there for a long time. Worst to come, the cook was stretching his socks while he was cooking for us. I can see his blue socks!! Never ever...

My first time purchasing takeouts from this restaurant tonight. What I noticed is that it was packed with customers, which says alot about the service and food considering some of the neighbouring shops were empty. I ordered bbq lamb, squid and seaweed. Holy heck! what a wonderful experience. The lamb was exquisite. The squid to dream for. The hit was the seaweed salad.... wow! I have not tasted anything like this. It tasted like it was fermented, and or marinated in a vinegar or something. Absolutely delightful. I will go back, but next time with a group. Thank you...
