The Coffee Club Highland Park — Restaurant in Howick

Mostly okay, food was okay. But waiter who came to collect our dishes was horrible. She screamed at us for being here for 3hrs when we had only been here for 1.5hrs and we're still eating and doing some work. She was very rude and took away all of our Cutlery and cups so we couldn't keep eating or drinking. She took away our drinks and they were half full. She told us they close at 3.30 when the other manager said 4.30. she didn't take away anyone elses plates, I think she was racist because she gave me a really dirty look. We were about to leave, so upset, and then the manager came over and told us he didn't even know what first table was. The waiter was named Natasha (or something like that). They came over and both started yelling at us, saying that no one is meant to stay at this cafe for more than an hour and we shouldn't use their power and wifi for more than hour. Which we actually didn't because the wifi cuts off after 1 hour and we had only plugged in the laptop for 15mins. They were so horrible to us and genuinely we had to leave in tears, all because they wanted to wash the dishes and go home early. Would not recommend this coffee club, go to Newmarket instead. First time I went here a few months ago and I was already disappointed.

Came back today expecting it will be a different experience but nothing changed. Quality of the food is still bad.

I ordered scrambled eggs on toast with sausage. The eggs are super dry and definitely stinky. I feel like it’s old. You can see from the photo that they didn’t even properly whisk the eggs before cooking. It’s definitely just tossed in the pan and mixed.

I got 3 tiny sausages which shocked me cause I have had this same order in other cafes and this was the smallest serving of sausages I ever had. It doesn’t taste good either.

I decided to check reviews of their page while trying to eat my food because $30 is making me sad for this kind of experience. And as expected it is bad reviews everywhere.

Honestly not impressed here. I understand that it’s Christmas, and that you only had 2 people working but still no excuse. First the lady gave part of order to some other table, said “oops” and then proceeded to give it to us even though someone else had touched it. Bad hygiene there. Then she serves us two hard boiled eggs and calls it “poached eggs on toast” both were hard as rocks. The salad was okay, there was a ridiculous amount of lettuce though, I’ve had Caesar salad before and it wasn’t filled with this much lettuce, there wasn’t much chicken or bacon in it either I might add. The wait time was really long. You really need to hire more staff, the wait and the food was ridiculous. I will not be recommending this coffee club to anyone at all. 1 star is very generous, you deserve nine...
