Freemans Bakery and Café — Restaurant in Kaipātiki

A bit of a mixed bag here ... Not sure if they have different chefs but I had a quiche a month back and it was sooo FABULOUS! Creamy and wobbly in the middle as I expect from a quiche, then a week later I had another one and it wasn't quiche - it was simply bacon-and-egg pie in a quiche shell ... I tried again today and - nope - just another bacon-and-egg pie. I probably won't try again on these as I don't want to be disappointed again.

But I will try out their steak-and-cheese pie and see if it really is a winner!

On a positive note; custard slice and cream donuts were fresh...

Some of the food is nice but you need to watch how much you get charged, three times in a row they have over charged me. I confronted them twice and got my money back and then the third time I went back, the young girl there did it again!! She even uses the till to add it up and the prices are all in view so there is no excuse! its like she purposely puts in the wrong amount. It's only a small amount of money but at the end of the day you are ripping off your customers. So just make sure you do a quick add before buying more than two things cause it...

I was in Glenfield, looking for food and spotted this little place. The signs in the window announced many awards won, and the steady flow of customers was a very good sign. I went for my favourite steak and cheese pie, which was apparently award winning, and loved it. My main criteria for a good pie is that it holds together when eaten, and this certainly did. The filling was chunks of real meat and the gravy was delicious. Also recommend the cheese sticks - really...
