A nice family style, refurbished about 9 years ago (from memory), above average pub & restaurant, with a dedicated outdoor family area for those glorious Summer days and little ones coming along with parents!! I've never noticed wheel chair access?? 🤷♀️, as the pub is raised ground and I've always used the 2 lots of steps up to the front door. Also unsure about disabled parking but the dedicated carpark is quite large compared to other pubs/bars and restaurants. Love the live music on Saturdays and especially on a sunny, clear, laid back Sunday afternoon. The service is always friendly, mostly polite and efficient, though table service can be hit or miss with attention so you do need to walk up to the register or bar if wanting to add to original food & drink orders. Largely dependant on your waiter or waitress as to your overall experience. Good array of nicely prepared (though smaller than average Pub/Restaurant servings) food to choose from. My personal opinion is I've found the mains are over priced for what you get and the quality of meat chosen e.g. the Steak and Chips is more like a $15-$20 meal not worth $35 at all, unless they're having a special on a certain main I stick to the Bar Menu and Starters. Vegan, Gf & DF options available for a lot of dishes, be it bar snacks, pizza,🍕 (by far my favourite!!) as they have ALWAYS been tasty, with toppings evenly spread and a fair amount relative to cost, (not as good as Sals but better than Dominoes/Pizza Hutt !!) Meatlovers or Chicken and Bacon are a hit with Hubby & I. On the Pub menu/Starters: Chips, Cheesy bread - I love the Onion Jam & Blue Cheese or good old Cheese and Garlic, Squid Rings or Karaage Chicken are a go to, very tasty, expect $15-$18 each for latter 2 options. Also Starters and Pub menu are a generally quicker service than mains, even on extremely busy summer weekend days. Most reliable on the menu re: standards is anything except Mains and Dessert. It seems that orders during a business day for food are hit and miss, regarding food size/quality, how well the chef has cooked and plated and speed of order to table - as a client of mine found out - never order the steak lunch rare, it's a porterhouse cut, one not inclined to be very pleasant unless ordered Medium unfourtunately and not a great dish when compared to cost, especially if you don't enjoy a fatty piece of side strip. There's an outdoor area for drinks and dining plus a dedicated smokers/Vaping area. Each time I come here I've experienced the different vibes and options on offer from the bar food whilst playing pool or catching up with friends, to the restaurant and taking a client there for lunch or invited to family catch ups utilising the outdoor faux grass area, with picnic table set up and a medium sized kids playground. Oh.. The kids menu is small but still has a good array of options and is a fair price. Kids playground with set up occupies the wee ones quite nicely. Overall a 6/10 and a solid 3 stars for a pub style option if a social catch up or a nice option for Hubby and I when we want to go hang out and relax. A good option for a drink with snacks, especially if doing some shopping at Glenfield mall across the Rd before or after your...
Read moreWe visited the POSTMAN'S Leg last night to celebrate a special family occasion (noted in the booking), hoping for a memorable meal. We saw the GREAT reviews and realise now - none of them are DINNER evening related. Unfortunately, the experience was a mix of highs and lows.
There were six of us, including a child, and the music and noise were so loud that it was difficult to have conversations or even hear the waiter. Yelling became necessary. The waiter was friendly, but after taking our order, we barely saw anyone else. No one took our drink or dessert orders, leaving us to do the work ourselves.
The wait for food was understandable given how busy it was, but the staggered delivery of meals was unexpected. This meant we couldn’t enjoy our meals together. If we’d waited for everyone’s food, ours would have been cold. We ended up watching each other eat while hungry. The delays were long—the first two meals were finished by the time the next two arrived, creating a bottleneck of waiting while others were already full.
By the time the last meal, a chicken schnitzel, arrived, we had all finished and were ready to leave. Two staff members came over separately to check if we had received it, leading to confusion and more shouting to clarify.
It quickly became clear that this wasn’t the place for a calm, family-friendly experience.
We had to go to the bar three times for drinks. Although the staff were friendly, queuing was a hassle.
A few notable issues:
The “Beast Burger” came with a tiny portion of chips, making it feel more like a “Budget Burger.”
The Chocolate Lava Cake was overcooked and dry, with no lava inside—disappointing in both size and texture.
We also paid $2 to play pool, only to find the table was missing a triangle and a jig. A staff member tried to find one, but couldn’t, so we had to improvise with pool sticks. Given it's condition it should have been FREE - The game machines and pinball were also turned off.
Because of rain, our child couldn’t play outside, and we later found out there were colouring sheets available. However, we had to again go up to the front counter, which felt like something we should’ve been offered when seated.
Despite the chaos, we did enjoy the meals. However, we couldn’t fully take advantage of the facilities, and no one asked us what we were celebrating (In the booking notes). When we left after spending $250+, including drinks at the bar, it felt as though we were employees. There was no thank you or acknowledgment from staff.
We had to figure out our own table number to pay and left feeling like no one noticed we were there—or that...
Read moreMy partner and I have been coming for about a year on a weekly basis for quiz nights. The food has always been great and the staff have always been friendly. Last night however, our food quality wasn’t the greatest. My partner had ordered the Snitty Sando and when he got it, the bread was so soggy and uneatable to a point where he just ate the contents inside and I ordered the chicken Caesar salad. Last week when I ordered the chicken Caesar salad I absolutely loved it which is why I ordered it again except this time the bacon was too salty to a point where it was like someone had dropped the salt on it and I only ate half the meal because of the taste. I kindly told the waitress about our meals who was super lovely and offered if any one us wanted a new meal cooked. I said yes because we were hungry, can we get another sandwich… however after the waitress chatted to her manager she said I’m really sorry our manager is in a very bad mood and cannot convince him to make us another meal. The only offer we could get was a discount. I asked why is he in a bad mood can I chat to him and she said even if you chat to him he won’t change his mind and the waitress also mentioned she was leaving because of the manager. I mentioned I’m still very hungry I didn’t get to finish my meal because of the taste can I at least get some garlic bread and the waitress came back saying yes and apologised. Although the waitress was trying her best and I cant fault in her service, I’m very disappointed that not once did the manager show face and come to us to apologize himself for the quality of our food or offer us a remake of what we paid for and just getting his waitress to speak on his behalf because of his “bad mood”. Although a discount was offered, it doesn’t change a hungry stomach especially if I couldn’t finish a meal and still left a lot of it on my plate. Very unprofessional move from management and a shame that a very lovely waitress has left because of...
