Penny Bakery — Restaurant in Manurewa

Looks like this place would have been good once upon a time, but you're only as good as your last.

I'm the guy that came in today and bought -Steak N Pepper Pie, Cinnamon Donut, Spring Roll and the Bacon & Tomato Pizza.

Steak and Pepper, no pepper in it (unless you count that fake pepper sprinkled on top), there was TWO, literally TWO pieces of steak in the sea of gravy, flavor was ok, but would've probably been fine if the pie hadn't sat in the warmer for the last 72 hours?? Am I right? That pastry was rock hard guys.

Bacon and Tomato Pizza. When did you honestly make that? 2 weeks ago ? You should NOT be selling this. That was rancid, literally off guys. How could you honestly give that to someone, let alone charge them for it ?

Spring Roll, wife said flavor was ok, but dripping in oil. Pretty gross...

Cinnamon donut, unfortunately no one has an appetite after the aforementioned roller coaster.

I'm pissed off I gave you guys money for food you SHOULD have thrown away!.

Off, old, stale, flavorless garbage.

For the first time ever, I'm actually going to go out of my way to report this place for health concerns. You're going to make people sick with that...

After trading happily with this cafe for since 2012 no problems and no issues. Last week the hot food I purchased was "just" warm (not enough to meet health regulations), today I commented about the higher price if Yesterday's cabinet food (custard danish -not chilled breach of health standards). At that point I was told I always complain... This is not true, imagine how I felt when I walked out the door and the woman with broken English started telling other customers that "..she no good she always complaining"..

.. disgraceful behavior from staff member!!

Penny’s Bakery in Hillpark has been one of my regular stops for years. Their pies stand out because the mince isn’t jelly-like and the pastry is always flaky, which makes a big difference. The mince and cheese and steak and cheese are my usual picks, solid options for a quick feed — I’d rate them a 7. I also enjoy their satay chicken buns, which add some variety.

The service is consistently friendly and helpful....
