We decided to dine at York Bistro because of the very high reviews. The service was excellent and the interiors is very nice however the fish dish really let us down. We ordered 4 plates of the catch of the day and unfortunately the groper didn’t taste fresh. We could already tell by the very strong fishy smell as the waitress placed the dishes onto our table, that the fish wasn’t fresh. The fish were poached and they were still very fishy and pungent. In fact it did not taste like groper. The groper was beyond over cooked, the wine in the dish wasn’t reduced so the sauce was bitter, and the crayfish sauce that accompanied the fish didn’t taste fresh either. The fig pudding tasted a bit stale and was unbalanced and too sweet. This is such a shame as the side dishes were great.
