Before our New Zealand holiday, we heard that holiday parks are very popular with many travelers, so we decided to stay at one as part of our New Zealand experience. We booked a private cabin which contains bed, electric heater, side tables, reading lamps, electric teapot, cups and a chair. There was also a picnic table right outside. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and had electric blankets set up under the bedsheets. You can adjust the setting from 'off' to 3 depending on how warm you want the bed to be. Each side of the bed has its own setting, so your partner / significant other/ spouse / husband/ etc can set it up the way s/he would want it. I thought that was really nice. You can park your car right in front of the cabin. Shared showers, bathrooms and kitchen are very close and are very clean. Bath towels are provided as part of your stay in the cabin, and I saw the sign saying they can be exchanged daily at the front desk ( do I assume everyone - i.e. bikers, camper van guests, etc - gets the towels as part of the stay). They also have cabins with private showers, but we did not book that option. We cooked dinner in the kitchen- again it was very clean. The kitchen has fridge, electric stove, microwaves, pots, pans, hand held electric mixer etc. basically all you may need to make a meal. A large bag of ice can be purchased at the reception. You will have to clean and put away all equipment, etc. you used. The park is in short walking distance to the center of the town where multiple cafes, restaurants and wine shop are. It is also in a walking distance to multiple wineries and a local brewery. Bikes can also be rented...
Read moreWe stayed in a cabin - It is an older model, 'leisurebuilt' cabin before they insulated them. It barely fit the Queen and Single bed and our bags on the floor. The beds were comfy, showers warm with good pressure.
PROBLEM: None of us slept well as we heard all the wind, rain, and trees on the roof through the night. Other lesser issues from being uninsulated were being able to hear nearby tent noise, and temperature drop over-night. All of the 'cabins' would have the same issues (Don't know about the 'units').
The free wifi connection was almost too slow to use at night as many people were sharing it. It was really good in the morning.
They kindly gave us the "Top 10" park membership discount off our stay even though we bought it after the stay! Perhaps becuase we checked out a day early. Also the cute sleeping cat in the reception was lovely.
Tip: Cabins 1-4, 9 and 10 are nearest the toilet/kitchen area if you're inclined to go during the night. (See my...
Read moreSuch a fantastic campground and we’ve had a fantastic stay. We’ve just gotten back from 6 nights camping here. Camp spaces seemed generous interspaced with trees to provide a nice mix of shade and sun throughout the day.
An incredibly family friendly spot, the kids were well entertained with the playground, the other kids, and the pool. The kids were so disappointed to have to come home.
The kitchen had a couple of fridges, a couple of 2-ring cookers. Both the kitchen and bathroom facilities were very clean - probably the cleanest I’ve seen at a camp ground.
Staff were so helpful, friendly and welcoming. We’ve stayed at a few Top10 and this has to be the friendliest I’ve experienced so far.
We’d such a great stay here and definitely looking forward to coming back...
