2 stars seems generous after tonight's experience. We arrived to celebrate my parents birthdays (mums 70th) and got led to our table and promptly ignored. While we noticed a conference was starting in the conference room on arrival we still expected that the restaurant would be adequately staffed, it quite clearly wasn't... At this point we should have walked out, however we didn't and that was our biggest regret afterwards
We first went to the salad bar and on getting back to our table tried to find staff you order drinks from but had no luck. Once we did get our drinks order placed we were already ready for our mains, I personally ordered a glass of red wine but unfortunately it arrived after I'd finished my steak.
The steak in question was of poor quality and certainly not medium rare. The quality of all the food to this point had missed the mark and a lot of the options were not replenished. They simply didn't have enough staff and the food they did have was average at best. This was possibly the worst buffet I've ever experienced and the non existent service just added insult to the whole experience.
If a 4.5 star hotel can't manage to run conferences and the restaurant at the same time then they don't deserve any business. This place shouldn't be a 4.4 rating and needs the management to take a long look at itself if it's going to continue. On the plus side it looked like the conference was well staffed and likely at least able to get service to enjoy the mediocre food on offer.
The dessert bar was consistent with the rest of the experience and we left wishing we'd just ordered takeaways......

The chef is amazing, she was busy on the grill cooking the venison, lamb chops, steak, pork and mussel fritters as well as walking around during those intervals and checking that all the food was topped up. Seafood selection was beyond delicious and FRESH ( surimi salad, oysters half shelled, mussels, whole steamed prawns, mussel fritters, steamed salmon, smoked salmon, seafood chowder, smoked fish chowder etc) the soup selection was beautiful offering 4 varieties. Around 7 selections of breads, grilled meats cooked to your preference by the chef on hand ( beef steak, lamb chops, venison, pork), chicken nuggets and hot chips for the kiddies. So many different salads from green salads to pasta salad to cous cous salad etc. Delicious range of desserts.
The restaurant is displayed beautifully right down to the plates and bowls we use for food. The staff are very friendly and always moving around clearing plates and assisting customers actively.
