Central Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

Feel uncomfortable writing this as I've been here a few times in the past and had really positive experience but last night feels too bad not to give proper feedback so hopefully doesn't happen again.

Got a pick up takeaway order last night after 8, very quiet night in the restaurant. The food was incredibly below par bordering on inedible. My partners chicken masamun curry has inconsistent cooking across the board. Undercooked hard potatoes and the chicken looked very suss and undercooked so he didn't eat any of the meat. Not being dramatic , this man eats a LOT of chicken so knows what he is talking about.

I ate my duck laab but the salad did not feel overly fresh so the whole dish felt pretty flat.

No idea what caused the food to be so poor, new chef, no chef? I hope this feedback is taken on board because I don't like discrediting long standing local businesses but in the same note respect should be given to customers and not served food which is clearly not up to scratch. The food is very nice, I had the spicy duck Thai salad and found the duck was nicely cooked, moist and succulent. A sign that they take their food seriously. We had a large group and we all found our different dishes were well made and very tasty. Though the menu could be simplified. We did book in advance so the kitchen and wait staff had plenty of time to prepare for us coming in. In saying this, we found the service was very slow and a waitress couldn't speak or understand much English. This is not so bad for many of us, but for our older parents, this was very frustrating. We were lucky we had the foresight of getting the staff to take down the kids orders first, before real frustrations happen. In essence, I would certainly eat the food again (probably as a pick up order), but only go back to dine in again if I hear the service has improved. Very disappointing and definitely won't be coming back. I ordered take away as I was pregnant and tired. Recieved the wrong order for one of the things I ordered and I had to send my husband all the way to get a replacement ofcourse after I had to explain my situation to the staff taking the order, the chief and the manager. He didnt even appologize !!!. Then while I was waiting for the meal. I started with the appetizer which I found a hair in. This put me off and made me sick in my stomach. I had to throw it out. As soon as my meal arrived I regreted that I even ordered it. It was disappointing, it was dry, oily and tasted burnt, Ended up throwing them and ordering something else .
