This place should be called Curry Kai not Coco. We went here solely because of the name and branding. Not at all what we expected. Decor is terrible. Dirty and drab. Had to swap our table cos the one we had was wobbly. Toilets were filthy. Can recommend the pork belly burger. Not as big as I thought it'd be especially for the price. Meat was tender af and flavours were on. Coco burger was build ups. It's huge but not overly tasty. The chicken in the coco burger is tender but it's got a curry Batter coating which was weird. The meat patties are just giant balls of mince which we didn't really mind. Everything has curry in or on it even the chips are seasoned with curry. Still it was alright. Ribs were hella tender but lacked flavour. They're battered and deep fried. 🤷🏾♀️ Butter chicken was nice but not for $21. Chicken nibbles were not. Dry and overdone and the flavours were just not to our liking. Burger side salads are just a bit of mesculan on top of dried out packet coleslaw without the dressing. Shakes were delicious but small. Served in a regular glass pitcher. Overall I'm in two minds about this place. The dishes we liked were really good but the ones that weren't...
Read moreWhere do I begin? I just left the cafe with one of my best friend with the worst food experience ever. If you want to eat burnt bacon then coco kai is the place to be. We walked in with intentions of ordering some decent food and order more than usual. First, we had ordered their waffle fries which was smothered with two different types of sauces and a side of popcorn chicken. Then we had our main dish which was meant to be a simple all day breakfast and eggs Benedict.
My friend ordered eggs Benedict she had notice she was eating into really burnt bacon which was tiny and over crispt. I had ordered all day breakfast that was suppose to be nice and simple with the usual ciabatta bread, tomato, mushrooms, bacon, sausage and eggs.
The bacon was fully burnt it was borderline not eatable, the sausage was deep fried in dirty oil they seasoned my poached eggs with salt and pepper they also ran out of ciabatta bread and decide to give me English muffin bread instead the mushroom was cooked in bbq sauce which I have never had before at any cafes here in Wellington..
If you want to eat poor quality food then by all means go to coco kai. I feel like I have...
