We were looking for a nice place for lunch in a crazy busy Gisborne over New Years weekend. What a hidden gem we found at The Forces Cafe! The setting is perfect, plenty of parking and lovely settings of tables under umbrellas, plus… air conditioned settings inside if the Gizzie heat is getting to you! The serving staff were delightful and the food was delicious. The only thing I would suggest trying is to remove the fence and I think the scene would be more welcoming. Anyone can dine here, The Cafe is privately run so you don’t have to be an RSA member, plus Gold card holders are entitled to a customary discount.

We had stayed in town for the night. Looking for breakfast. We were visitors from Australia. We spotted the RSA Cafe. Support the RSA and the locals. Popped in for breakfast. So many lovely choices.
