Gloria Jean's Lower Hutt — Restaurant in North Island

This place is fantastic all round! I've been around 20 times and consistently have good experiences. The coffee is great. Great tasting and well made each time! Our coffee expectations are very high! The service is top notch! The staff do very well to listen and then accurately do that. The screen on the till is useful to validate this, but they also speak it back which is useful for those who may be vision impaired. The choice of cabinet food and menu food is also good. Cold, hot, meat, vege. There should be something for everybody's tastes and food requirements. The place is well patronised by the local employees and clients alike. It's not so loud that you can't talk, but equally good ambient noise for privacy. I used to go to Janus around the corner, but not anymore... Warning!!! Be aware of the parking rules imposed by the carpark, 2 hour maximum and also note that ticketing is done via a camera not parking enforcement officer, so don't think that you can park and just...

The behavior I witnessed a couple of months ago in this cafe was absolutely appalling, if I could give zero stars I would! The disgusting and vile behavior I witnessed from the boss/manager guy towards his young female staff member was shocking, he was yelling in her face, swearing at her.. even belittling her ffs all infront of customers! Stopped into Gloria Jean’s Lower Hutt on our way to Kaitoke and it was just what we needed. The coffee was fantastic (we have high standards). The decor is modern with large floor to ceiling windows for lots of natural light. I am not one to compliment cabinet food but here they did an outstanding job; the pies and filos were fresh, warm and tasted like “nans cooking”. Would definitely recommend dining here not just for service, food and atmosphere but for comfort and good...
