Mekong Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

Ordered a Delivery via DeliverEasy. I was rather hungover, indecisive, and therefore - over-ordered. Just as well. Beef Curry - came in a normal size takeaway container. Was about 1/5 full. No exaggeration. Was absolutely astounded. Pathetic, nigh-criminal. Chicken Salad - possibly worse. Sprinkling of carrot and chicken that barely covered the base of the container. Literally. Summer Rolls (chicken) - can't go wrong, right? Wrong. They were a reasonable size, at least, a GOOD size, actually.... but made up of 99% noodles. The one dish where I typically don't mind vegetables being used as 'filler' - and I didn't even get that. Zero chicken...just rice noodles, wrapped up. Pho - actually wasn't too bad. Not good, but not bad. Still - more noodles than anything else, to make it look bigger than it was, but... not criminally so. But the rest of it... embarrassing. I didn't take photos, unfortunately... I should have. I don't think words can adequately describe the incredible INadequacy of this "meal". I'd ordered 4 dishes, and was considering ordering another delivery from elsewhere. Just......

Pretty Average food for over average pricing

I’ve been here a few times esp because they are open all the time which is handy.

I’m a Pho lover! But this one was just ok.

No matter what time of the day the place is always messy lol Dirty plates always out and it seems everything needs updating esp since you can get lunch time prices at surrounding restaurants.

The service here is always lovely though so can’t fault them there. I always leave this place feeling underwhelmed.

My last visit I had Beef brisket on rice. Hmmm I’ll let the photos speak for itself.

My partner and I went to Mekong for his birthday, and I was pleasantly surprised! The ambiance isn’t much to write home about and the service was good enough, but the Báhn Tam was amazing! Both myself and my partner ordered this meal and had zero regrets. By itself, the vermicelli noodles are lightly flavorful, but I felt that the dish became perfection after the addition of chili oil and vinegar. The vegan egg rolls are a nice touch.
