Beautiful, solemn memorial to the New Zealanders who served and died in World War II. I had the honor to visit and be a part of the commemoration ceremony that took place here on the anniversary in September 2017 with our New Zealand brothers and sisters in arms. Beautiful works of art also surround the memorial, so there is plenty to see around this site, making it a worthwhile place to visit while in Wellington.

The ANZAC day parade was awesome with atleast 30000 people attending it. Military veterans, serving personnel and the public have gathered across New Zealand today at dawn services to commemorate Anzac Day. The national anniversary remembering the landing of Australian and New Zealand soldiers - the Anzacs - on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915 was marked in services from first light on a cold autumn morning.

Really cool place. It's only a wee bit out of the hustle and bustle of everything. I've been here at pretty much every time imaginable and it's always nice. There are often skateboarders filiming their videos and doing tricks too which is quite neat. The history of each art piece and memorial is very interesting and is good for reflecting it all. It's even just a nice place to sit around and chill out!

This is exceptional. The atmosphere, the information the opportunity to learn the salient points of a war that is now 100 years remote. There is a kind of interactive, semi-experiential, and almost reverential atmosphere to the whole exhibition. The explanation text is light at the first level, but more if you want more. I did not feel overwhelmed with text, but absorbed the visuals and sounds. From the French alleyways that greet you, to the life-size models, and the battlefield scenarios.. the exhibition is engaging. A good overview of World War 1. I would say, "Not to be missed!" Along with the Gallipoli exhibition at Te Papa, an excellent history. Here's a tip: Go early in the weekend (it opens at 10am), before it very quickly...

It is rediculous that a monument of national significance can't be entered because some engineers have deemed it an earthquake risk! The whole of Wellington is and earthquake risk! And standing anywhere outside the carillion would be as big a risk from falling masonry but that is OK apparently. Come on Wellington council, let's get this sorted. It's an international embarrassment when we the public and other overseas visitors can't access our national memorial to our war dead. But if the councils handling of multiple fiascos (Transmission Gully, better road access to the airport, Basin Reserve flyover, cycle lanes etc) is an indicator, it is likely to be a long time before the doors to the memorial are open to the public...

Pukeahu National War Memorial Park is a poignant tribute to New Zealand's military history and a place of reflection. Situated in Wellington, this expansive park honors those who served and sacrificed in conflicts worldwide. The Carillon, Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, and the Australian Memorial are solemn landmarks that evoke a deep sense of respect. The Arras Tunnel and the park's layout seamlessly integrate history and tranquility. Pukeahu is more than a memorial; it's a sacred space that encourages contemplation, fostering an understanding of the nation's role in global events. It stands as a symbol of remembrance and a testament to the enduring spirit of...
