This is exceptional. The atmosphere, the information the opportunity to learn the salient points of a war that is now 100 years remote. There is a kind of interactive, semi-experiential, and almost reverential atmosphere to the whole exhibition. The explanation text is light at the first level, but more if you want more. I did not feel overwhelmed with text, but absorbed the visuals and sounds.From the French alleyways that greet you, to the life-size models, and the battlefield scenarios.. the exhibition is engaging. A good overview of World War 1. I would say, "Not to be missed!" And standing anywhere outside the carillion would be as big a risk from falling masonry but that is OK apparently. Come on Wellington council, let's get this sorted. It's an international embarrassment when we the public and other overseas visitors can't access our national memorial to our war dead. But if the councils handling of multiple fiascos (Transmission Gully, better road access to the airport, Basin Reserve flyover, cycle lanes etc) is an indicator, it is likely to be a long time before the doors to the memorial are open to the public...
