New Chapter — Restaurant in North Island

Star barista Long Nguyen opened New Chapter, on Bunny Street opposite Wellington Station, at the start of July. He says he's out to provide a "unique coffee experience" to Wellingtonians.

"Our coffee is introduced and served in different brewing techniques; we also introduce different coffee beans from around the world so our customers can play with their palates and imaginations," he says.

Nguyen certainly knows his stuff when it comes to the art of the perfect brew. Inheriting a love of coffee from his father and grandfather, he's been heavily involved in the New Zealand Barista Championships, firstly as a competitor and supporter, then eventually as a judge.

Visiting from Auckland and happened to come across this cafe today. Wellington has good cafes but I'd say New Chapter is a great one. I had higher expectations anyway seeing 2 Mahlkonig grinders rather than the usual Mazzers.

My americano was really tasty. Flavours reminded of fruit and nut dark chocolate with just a touch of berry.

Barista was very friendly and the place overall had a great vibe. So if you're in the mood for a good espresso or filter, I'd highly recommend...

New Chapter is a bustling cafe with amazing counter food and great coffee. The fact that it is standing room only at peak times speaks to the quality, however there is extra seating towards the back of the store to accommodate people as needed.

The staff are friendly and attentive, they promptly run your coffees out to you from behind the counter whether it's takeaway or have-here.

Pricing is standard for Wellington, and there is a small set of stairs to enter...
