My bestie and I came here for a late lunch. There's ample seating and the staff are friendly. They have a comprehensive drinks list, but I was craving non-alcoholic ginger beer. We started off with garlic toast to share, and it was delicious! Super crispy crust with soft buttery centers, and the bread was nice and light. My friend is vegetarian, thus ordered the vegan chicken bun which she loved. I ordered the lamb shank over mashed potatoes which was cooked to perfection; fall-off the bone, tender, flavorful and so good. The mashed potatoes and peas were a great pairing with the dark gravy. The lamb shank also had plenty of marrow which was an extra treat. Highly recommend! Edit: we also came back 2 days later for a very late dinner. Full kitchen service had closed since we came in so late, but they still had small plates/bar snacks which were just as good. The curly fries was crispy and seasoned perfectly. The skewers were really flavorful too!

If you're looking for a cozy spot with a fantastic atmosphere, this pub has it all. The fish and chips are absolutely delicious—perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a generous portion that’ll leave you satisfied. Pair it with one of their local beers or ciders for the ultimate experience. The drinks might be a bit on the pricier side, but they're definitely worth it for the quality. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the live music. A local band plays every Saturday, and they're truly something special. Their sound is sweet, vibrant, and energetic, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxed evening out. The guitarist was funny and took song requests and really knew how to jam out! The overall vibe of the pub is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a laid-back yet lively crowd. A great spot to unwind and enjoy great food, drinks, and music!

We went to the Poparazzi quiz night. It was extremely fun, but being Aussies there were a few NZ specific questions we just couldn't answer. Herbie, our host, was so funny and wonderful. He tried to give us a few sympathy answers, but it still wasn't enough to come up from last.... But at least we got a free T-Shirt (points for trying! lol) Then we had their ribs for dinner! Oh. Em. Gee! plate was enormous and very delicious. I've eaten a lot of ribs and they are a podium finish in my books! Mouthwatering sauce that went well with the pig tail fries we shouldn't have ordered on the side. Staff were so great! Katie (our server) was very friendly and had actually helped us out earlier that day with directions around Rotarua. What a great final night in NZ. You guys would put a LOT of Aussie pubs to shame with those plates!

We usually dine here at least once when we are in Vegas riding MTB and this trip was no exception. Tonight’s experience was exceptionally good. This was mainly down to our waitress Eliana. Every time she came to the table she was happy and smiling, it was infectious. She is truly an asset to your business. The food was great as always but tonight’s service was just perfect.

Edit: Returned here last night after several months away. A local we know had mentioned that things had gone downhill and that we'd be disappointed but we were keen to come back anyway. After trying several times the previous night to get someone to answer the phone, we eventually got through the next day only to be met with a very rude little man telling us we should be booking online, not over the phone!! Not really sure what is going on but last nights service was almost non existent, they could have easily sold us at least another round of drinks, probably more for the four non drivers (five of us) but no one seemed interested. At one stage there were four staff standing behind the bar talking to each other, completely ignoring patrons. Eventually we managed to get their attention and were offered more drinks but by that stage we were pretty much ready to leave. Disappointing really, and I doubt we'll be back after discovering the low and slow BBQ place up the road on the way home. Hard times require hard work if you want to survive, so whoever was in charge last night needs a rocket I'd say. In saying that the lamb shank was great, but not great enough to cancel out the lack of service. Really disappointing because we've always enjoyed...

I reserved and asked for a quiet table for 6 for a 65th Birthday for 6.30pm. We were seated on two large separate tables which were bolted to the floor in the possibly loudest area right at the entrance surrounded by 3 TVs. It was not possible to have a conversation without yelling and sitting 4 on one table and two awkwardly perched on the second one did completely dampen the mood of a catchup and celebration. There was a free table in the corner, which we were not allowed to take because of a reservation. What really grated was that it remained empty the whole 2 hours we were there. The food: one person ordered lamb shank and another the skewers. Staff returned saying they ran out on both. Ordered seafood chowder to get the same response, no longer available. If this would have been 9pm I'd understood but at 6.45pm? So they finally opted for the steamed pork buns, only to be disappointed because they ended up not liking it at all. You could tell the kitchen was overwhelmed and rushed. The curly fries were overdone and I felt like I had the dredge of the basked in very small pieces. My chicken salad was very nice apart from the big handful of crispy noodles on top that covered the whole salad. Other than this, the rest of the meals were nice enough and plentiful and enjoyed. Overall would probably not go there again. The kitchen planning could really improve; 3 meals not available. After discussing this we identified that this was not the first time some of us...

Really great food but unfortunately the night was spoiled due to terrible service.

We (7 for us) were refused drinks at the table after we had two to three drinks each as the waitress claimed we were too intoxicated. Ridiculous as we clearly were not, and we had a one year old with us and my pregnant wife. The waitress was rude and short with us throughout the stay as well which was completely unwarranted

A few minutes later she tells us that there is a reservation for the table in fifteen minutes and asked if we could finish up by then. Clearly this was the reason she refused service for us in the first place and when questioned on this she double backed and offered to take our drink orders again.

This was a completely avoidable experience. If we were informed when booking that there was a booking later or even if instead of accusing us of being intoxicated the predicament was explained we would have been very happy to finish up at that time. Instead we got passive aggressive service and insulting accusations.

Unfortunately I can't rate this higher than a two as this was a significant part of the experience, but the food was great and well priced, the drinks very reasonable and the other staff...
