The staff lady on the counter was absolutely rude. The customer got different rate for USD exchange to nzd than what she quoted me. When I asked why she gave me different rate she said the previous customers exchanged thousands of US dollars. I told her I am here to exchange in thousands too. She asked me to show her the money from the other side of glass before she can quote me a better rate. Why do I need show her the proof that I am there to exchange thousands of USD to get a better exchange rate quote. This is shady and unethical business practice. I understand bigger amount exchanges get a better rate. But she and the owner needs to be transparent about the exchange rates and let the customers know before hand about different exchange rates at different exchange thresholds, and never ask customers to show proof of money before giving out the quote. New Zealand being a first world and developed country, the service and business practice was absolutely third class. This exchange place is taking advantage of monopoly due to no competition. They don't realize their business thrives on thousands of out-of-country tourists like me. Public Notice for all out-of-country tourists to not exchange their money using at this location. With so many tourists coming to New Zealand all over world each year, someone should work on improving the foreign exchange infrastructure and streamline the process for the tourists through out the country.
