Ruk Thai — Restaurant in North Island

Sorry, but i really dont know how this place has such high reviews 🙈 - I really wanted to love this place cause iv heard some good things.. but I'm sorry to say i was very disappointed. We got Thai green curry - which was very watery and had no kick to it at all, hardly any chicken and mainly carrots.. im happy the pad thai was yummy and was really squashed into the container which was a plus.. but we also got a pork stir fry and no joke it had mainly celery and not much flavour. Im un happy we paid $50 for 2/3 dishes that where very bland and not what thai is usually like. Not To Mention small serving sizes with the curry and stir fry. The staff are so Lovely so i feel bad with this review - im hoping the chef was sick and it was someone else cooking. Ill try the green curry again some time to give it another go - but if its the same i most likely wouldn’t eat...

We have had food eating here and takeaway. Generally of a decent standard. Most recently we had takeaways on Sunday. The food was the tastiest thai we have had in Tauranga, it was great. Massaman beef, pad prik pork and prawn pad Thai. The one issue we had was the servings of rice. They were pitiful. I went back into the shop after showing the whānau in the car and got told that is a standard serve. We have photos below to show how small the serves were, so much so we were able to move the two serves into one container. If they are going to skimp on rice, at least reduce the amount of packaging they are using. In having said this, the actual mains were of a decent size so I guess the moral of the story is cook your own rice or order twice or three times as much as you would...

definitely not worth the price, portions were laughable, $24 for 5 thinly sliced beef and just vegetables to make up the plate, 4 small pieces of pork ribs charged at $22, restaurant was so bloody warm in the summer without any ventilation, terrible dining experience for a restaurant who brands themselves as fine dining, but only use some uncooked carrots to decorate the dishes but the portions are so small - it is a disgrace, in my opinion there are many better options...
