Vintage Village Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

Disappointing First visit to the Vintage Village Cafe.

I went in for breakfast with my family, was early so the cafe was not busy, however it took over 60 Minutes between first meal arriving and last meal arriving at the table.

My meal was the first meal out, and it was cold, and not cooked correctly, I also had to ask for my drink as two of us did not receive ours with the rest of the table.

The remaining orders came out at a trickle pace, and two of the orders were wrong and had to be sent back. One was sent back twice.

I was unimpressed with young counter staff member who when asked about the order errors argued at the table, not once but twice with one of my dining party. She was accusatory, when the error made. Rather than apologising for the error and making arrangements to fix the issue, she proceeded to accuse the member of the table of getting their order wrong. This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

In the end we had to get the Cafe owner involved to fix the issues. But as a first time visitor to this cafe, I certainly will not be...

The food was tasty and only a little overpriced. The chips with my burger were great, but the burger only consisted of 3 pieces of chicken on a bed of lettuce. The coffee was also good. Why I marked it down was the urgent need for the staff to attend a food safety and hygiene course (and maybe adhere to it!). I watched the staff climb on top of a rubbish bin and use their foot to compact the contents, then pick up various bits of rubbish that came out of the bin along with his foot with his bare hands. Not a big deal, but then he went straight over a made some poor individual a flat white - with added campylobacter. No hand washing, lid put on with those same contaminated hands, steamer wiped with the same dirty rag. Yum. Won’t be back - the food’s good but I’m too young to die from...

Came in a couple of times incase it was isolated incidents but unfortunately not. Three times we have been in and three times we have been thoroughly disappointed. The common theme... poorly cooked food that is so over salted it is inedible.

Was in today, and the BURGERS were so salted that we couldn't finish one bite. When we took it back to the counter all we got was 'sorry about that'. No offer for a recook or refund. Really disappointing with the staff. Other food was a panini where the flavours didn't work and kids chicken nuggets and chips which was also had too much salt.

Honestly, I dont say this lightly, but avoid this place. You are throwing your money away. As I said, tried three different times with this place and its the same result every time. The...
