Wife and I ate here this evening with mixed results on both service and food. Arrived and told we can seat ourselves. Then our parade of servers began. Server 1, 30 something male, tells us specials and disappears without taking drink orders Server 2, young adult female, arrives a few min later and takes our drink orders Server 3, young adult male, soon arrives and is surprised to hear we've already got a server Server 4, young adult female, arrives and takes our dinner order. Fifteen minutes after our drink orders had been taken, I flag down Server 4 to inquire of our drinks, and of course she's unaware of them as it was Server 2 who took the order. But 4 hurries off and Server 3 appears shortly with our drinks. Server 4 appears 1 min later with our meals. We prefer enjoy a pre dinner cocktail, but we had them with dinner tonight. First-world problem, I know. On the plus side, the cocktails were executed competently. Pros: Enthusiastic, friendly servers. Cons: Poorly managed/organized staff Food review: Really enjoyed the pan fried fish. The pork belly sandwich was so-so, but chips...
Read moreThis was a really pleasant experience! Easy to find just off Raumati Road, Raumati! As you drive or walk down to the rest, you are drawn in by the beauty of the ocean view and flagged down by the lights of a warm, homely din of people chattering in restaurant! We ordered Lamb shank with a Starter of hand-cut fries with a Coke and Cappuccino; this was a really excellent meal! The meat slid off the bone of the shank, the potato mash with chutney was perfectly seasoned. The fries were cut perfectly, and not forgetting the accompanying garlic sauce and tomato sauce condiments were a really great addition! The Cappuccino brew was perfectly soaked through and at the perfect temperature to warm you up on a winters night! The staff were really welcoming and respectful, presentable in their dress code and well versed in their menu! Well done Waterfront Bar & Kitchen on a great set of staff, menu, atmosphere...
Read moreThere for a meal the evening before my Sister in Laws wedding. Arriving half an hour early, the 4 of us were going to have a drink and soak in the beach, and Kapiti views. But we're told that we couldn't go into the bar because our party was booked into a side room. We'll the side room had no view apart from a few trees, it was very small, so the 16 of us were jambed into this cramped room. If the ones sitting at the end of the table had to get 3 others to get up and move so they could go to the toilet. The furniture was sticky and felt dirty. A couch behind a piece of furniture was filthy. The food was average, and in total, we spent $1200.00 on drink and meals. On the up side, the young lady who looked after us did a fantastic job. I certainly would not recommend this place. We travelled up from the South Island, I was a shame that the Waterfront Bar and Kitchen spoiled...
