Ourfirst visit and we were not dissapointed! My friends and I eat out once a week at least and try to visit all the local restaurants in Kapiti. The staff on duty were Samantha, Yogesh, Alanah and Lyla (I asked them to write their names down because we were so impressed!) With a wide range of vegetarian and meat options, we were spoiled for choice. For the starters, we settled on the onion bhaji's and the meat platter. Cooked to perfection and generous in size, we sat there with the biggest smiles on our faces. Succulent and tender meat, well spiced with a hint of heat. The bhaji's were were well fried, crisp and plentiful. The sauces complemented the dishes and the overall experience was helped by Samantha who is a natural people person, upbeat and respectfully attentive without being overbearing. Next, we moved onto the mains, two lamb vindaloos (indian hot), one butter chicken (mild) and a lamb bhuna (medium). The vindaloos were tasteful and the meat melted in your mouth. I made one suggestion which was to turn up the heat on the spices as it felt more like a medium, apart from that, it was magnificent. The lamb bhuna was thick and well spiced, the medium heat was about right and bought a bead of sweat to the brow of Paula! The butter chicken had amazing sauce and was well spiced with just enough heat to get the saliva flowing. The only suggestion Karin (the wife) had was that it would have been more to her liking if they had used chicken thigh instead of chicken breast. the meat was a tad dry for her taste although overall she enjoyed it. The food overall was well prepared, tasteful and we will be going back for seconds! Did I mention that the pulls of ice cold Tiger beer were great for washing down the food. Our thanks to the staff of the evening, you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was one of my recently favourite restaurants and I've recommended a few people about it. However, the most recent experience made the whole thing pretty sour.
Been there a couple of times before, on my third time, I ordered the meat platter as my starter as usual but the platter size took me by a little surprise. I took a pic of the dish during the first time I had it (I was kind of blown away by the sheer portion and how good it tasted). I asked the server about it and was told that they have reduced the number of pieces while maintaining the same amount of meat. This was an acceptable explanation and I didn't think too much of it, still enjoyed the dish very much. However, the server later doubled down on the claim that nothing has changed and commented "I'm not sure why you felt that". That came off as passive aggressive, my response was that I had been here a couple of times before and that the photo of the dish I showed looked quite different, the server said that they haven't seen me before and this was the first time she saw me there. I felt quite uncomfortable, didn't want to finish the main dish and leave but chose to be civil. I don't think I'll be coming back unfortunately. Shame, they created a really good impression on my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCurry Lounge in Raumati is without question the best curry in the lower North Island that we have visited. The entire menu is outstanding, offering authentic curries that are rich in flavour and beautifully presented. The naan breads are always fresh, soft, and just the right size and a perfect accompaniment to every dish.
The staff are attentive, friendly, and always make you feel welcome, which adds to the overall dining experience.
This is a true hidden gem that we find ourselves returning to often, and itās become a place we proudly introduce friends and family to. Every time, they leave just as impressed, sharing the same rave reviews.
On the KÄpiti Coast, it easily stands out as the most authentic and best curry restaurant. After visiting numerous curry houses across the lower North Island, this remains the best weāve ever had.
Itās that good, we donāt even mind the 15āminute drive; itās...
