An amazing gem of a place. Family run business, the patrons of this eatery are from Afghanistan and share their beautiful food and culture with the diners. Warm and hospitable, you will always leave the restaurant with a smile, I did :-). I had the Qabuly pulao (yum), by the skewer-mince seekh kabab, chicken tikka and lamb kabab and was immediately transported to food heaven. The food is simple, not at all spicy but the flavour, it is brimming with flavour that I just wanted to eat and not speak with anyone at the table, it is that good. I think they are competitively priced for the quality of food offered. Portions servings are big, so if you have a small appetite avoid ordering too much as the food, this in turn saves food wastage. They also have a flat platform style seating with a rug (traditional style) for the more adventurous type. Will I go again? Absolutely YES!! Support a local business.

My experience was not as good as the other reviews, when I hear the microwave going in an establishment like this I panic I ordered some meal which was $21 and a naan for $2.99 In response to the owner: once again, the language of good food is universal… the sound of a microwave is easily heard - when it’s beeping to open the door… other people have also mentioned the naans being microwaved, I’m not picky, Auckland seems to be full of subpar food which is acceptable to most. Best wishes. Original review: The meat tasted reheated as did the rice, portion size of meat small barely a few bites (deceiving in pics) naan not pictured but it was microwaved. Only thing which was tasty was the chilli sauce. Disappointed to say the least.

This place has amazing food, it had genuine Afghan food and it was delicious, my whole group of friends always wanted Afghan food and this place hit the spot for all of us. We had the family pack which feeds 5 people with the chicken, lamb and minced lamb skewers too and also ordered the mantu which is a dish that's above and beyond, we fed 7 people with these two orders. To finish it off we ordered green tea as needed in the Afghan culture after eating the meals. Next on the list will be the qaboli palaw. The had proper indoor seating setup and also a place to sit on the raised floor with traditional Afghan carpet and seating. Suitable for families too. Definitely going again #thisisfaroq

I have to say that the pricing of the food is too high. I've visited this place 2-3 times with friends, and most of us were dissatisfied with the prices. Despite this, I returned today hoping to just buy a piece of kebab with Naan. When I asked about the price and was told it was $28, I was shoked. I didn't say much and simply left. I am confused why something that typically costs $12-$15 elsewhere is sold here for nearly $30. Even the most expensive resturants prices are not this expensive. It gives the impression that your not really interested to encourage repeat visits which is kinda weird and strange. Also, I have noticed that you guys responding to critical reviews by suggesting the food might not be suitable for the reviewer seems so unprofessional and just arrogant. Anyway, good luck!

Update: I want to clarify that I'm not fabricating a story here. I simply wanted to place an order for a Kebab without any rice, sides, or drinks. Specifically, I was looking to order a kebab with one naan to enjoy in my car. Despite clearly stating my preferences, your reply included items I had no intention of ordering. This only reinforces my point about the unprofessionalism displayed in...

Was there on 26th April 2023 with my friend. while we searching for something new in recipe and taste another mate called and recommended this place as we where nearby. I say quite acceptable taste and quality of food ingredients and freshness. Biomass of food is Middle East size filled more than a normal for average or maybe because we ordered family pack that cover 3 at lease and we where two only. Their salad style was a bit of unsized match considering served food and needed a bit of work maybe; oh, should mention at the time lettuce prices was increased from $2.50 to $7.50 in Auckland. I was totally happy with service and quality, my friend a bit of complained for salad maybe because she likes more vegetables in food than me and prefer the veggies. And food preparation was in reasonable time as well. Quote original Afghan style decorations and partially huge size short tables covered by Persian or Afghan rug. Think it’s called Takht E Tavous style. I think you need to take shoes off if you choose those sit but not sure and didn’t ask either. Maybe better ask before walking on top while...

One of Stoddard Road's best kept secrets. We've lived in the area for a very long time and knew we had to try this restaurant upon finding out about it.

We arrived for our first time and immediately sat while the waiter was behind us with our menus. He was great and did a great job looking after us. The food was exceptional - we ordered the mandu, Bajan borani and biryani and they all tasted spectacular. The tea was also very nice and complemented the food very well.

We went for a second time and weren't disappointed. We ordered the bolani, Bajan borani, mandu and pulao. Everything was just delicious. My cousin and I were just amazed at the attention to detail with the food and we were lucky enough to have the same waiter as we did the first time we came to the restaurant. The food was great and it was such a nice light lunch.

Prices are reasonable and you do get a lot of food that is tasty and delicious. We're definitely coming back again and frequently this...
