We visited Aldo's for the first time tonight.
We could not fault the quality of the food served, it was excellent.
My only comment being, I had the special of the day, and would have liked just a little more pasta with my garlic prawns. Aldo said that in future "no problem" next time you come, just ask for more pasta.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for service and atmosphere, was that they were training new staff that night, and another party of guests were very loud, and the acoustics there made the evening a little unpleasant. However this was certainly not a fault of the restaurant.
If you want a great Italian meal, and not have to mortgage your house, this is the place to go.
They have a great choice and selection of wines available for you to choose from.
At the end of the meal service we were offered complimentary lemon chello, which was a nice touch.
Also they offer excellent coffee.
I spoke with Aldo prior to leaving and asked if he would make special meals such as mussells steamed in wine with garlic and tomatoes, he said no problem, just ring ahead and he will organise it.
Aldo's is a must visit, and we will...
Read moreWe decided to come to Aldo’s based on the terrific reviews but unfortunately I’m not sure the food lives up to the reviews. We ordered the olives and pickled veg to start - very few olives and the pickled veg had a very interesting flavour. Wasn’t great. For mains we order the pork sausage penne and the fish of the day. The pasta was meh - sauce was fine, nothing to rave or complain about however the sausage was not really not nice - ultra processed and just a sausage cut into big chunks. Tasted very cheap. Normally I’d expect a sausage pasta to be taken out of its casing and then mixed through (so it’s more like mince) so this was different but also would not have been possible as the meat was super cheap. The fish of the day was nice. Fish was fresh and cooked well. Came with a lemon buttery sauce but this was quite thick and gluggy. Service on the other hand was great, we had a lovely young lady (ginger hair) that was super friendly, attentive and...
Read moreOnce great restaurant, let down by new owners. Place has potential needs some love and care.
Pasta not made in house any more (Store bought pasta, I asked them they said it’s to much work to make their own)
Anti-pasto platter was once a lovely spread is now 8 pieces of verkers salami & pastrami with a tiny amount of bread, salad and four olives.
Drinks menu was a printed out spreadsheet.
This place really misses the excellent work of the original owners Aldo and Susan.
Food was acceptable nothing gross, just a far-cry from what it once was.
Can’t believe an Italian restaurant doesn’t make its own pasta.
Do better please, there’s so much potential in...
