Nestled in the heart of Kumeu is a unique and authentic café. The Food Vault is on the one hand contemporary, and on the other reminiscent of grandmas Sunday kitchen. Freshly baked sourdough bread permeating inviting aromas, French pastries proving in the cabinet ready for the morning bake; this place will leave you drooling before you have even placed your order.
Unashamedly simplistic, The Food Vault cuisine is rustic and honest in its quality of flavour and ingredients. Everything is hand made and cooked to perfection. Slow cooked beef cheek pies that transport you to a country kitchen in ancient Greece and their salmon scramble is simply moreish. A café that doesn’t hide from the most delicate of touches; nurturing a herb garden out back the meals are garnished with fragrant fresh decadence.
If good food wasn’t enough, The Food Vault also has the best coffee in Auckland (and I have been everywhere to find a good cuppa.) Read more$29 for a coffee, wrap and brownie. This place is hideously expensive, the Asian lady - waitress/barista wasn’t very friendly and spent the whole time telling the staff off infront of people and patronising them was awful to stand there and wait for my takeaway food.
Guy that worked there came back from obviously the shop buying more cream. Didn’t wash his hands on return and then started preparing food and taking food out of cabinet with his hands instead of tongs to get ready for takeaway food. Yuk this place really needs a health and food safety reminder but also need to review there pricing as food was completely overpriced.
