Curry Leaf Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Rodney

Food was good but not great on first visit, good taste and flavours combined with spice and heat as requested, portion sizes were good, pleasant atmosphere. Service was poor, our waiter/server showed no urgency, very softly spoken, you could hardly hear him. Other diners at the time had a similar issue even though the restaurant was fairly empty. I then went to pay after the meal and asked for a receipt, the same server handed over the eftpos receipt, asked for a detailed receipt his demeanor changed, examined the bill and found I was double charged for everything that was ordered! On the second visit, attended a private function of a friend at the same place, the upstairs area of the restaurant was booked to another party of young punjabi males, they made over excessive noise and were rude and disrespectful as the night went on. Situation escalated into a verbal stand off and aggression shown as the upstairs patrons were intoxicated which resulted in the police being called. Owner was not present so staff had to handle the situation. Food was typical bulk cooked buffet food with mainstream Indian dishes, ok for a buffet, yet again poor service as dishes and glasses were not cleared promptly which resulted in congestion on tables, not impressed, will...

I have been to this place with my friends on Sunday 8th July for dinner. We ordered mix platter as our first course which includes samosas, seekh kabab, chicken Tikka , veg pakora. On our main course we ordered saag chicken, Dal tadka and Goat curry which is recommended by Chef. And also rotis and naan breads. This place is simply awesome. Chicken Tikka was delicious, tasty seekh kebab was tasty, spicy as we mentioned to staff. Rotis and naan breads was freshly made soft and hot. Dal tadka, chicken saag was outstanding. And the best part was goat curry which is recommended by Chef. It was the best goat curry we ever had. Goat meat was tender, spicy, tasty. My first time visit at kumeu.. . I ordered takeaway of 3 x butter chickens for my family and garlic naan bread.. Im going to say.. WOW, WOW, WOW... We have had several butter chickens around Rodney over the years... but i cannot speak highly enough of their flavour..n tender chicken.. So creamy n tasty n Super nice and so delicious!! 😋👌All my family were talking about it... The garlic naan bread very nice indeed.. Cooked beautifully n very tasty.. 😁👍. I will definitely be going back, but to eat in the restaurant with family and friends.. It is such a beautiful layout and i cannot wait to sit down and enjoy their curry again..
