Initially was extremely hesitant after reviewing their instagram and seeing posts about catering to the unvaccinated and C19 naysayers. However, upon further thought- it appears the Hapunan is aware of its local population in Huapai and is forced into a difficult situation to balance. The only feedback I'd give is be more strict in the amount of people entering at one given time- I waited outside until the person before me left, and as I entered to pick up my phone order 5 people followed me in making it very cramped in a small area. Otherwise all other C19 protocols are top notch- thank you.
Foodwise- I will premise this review saying that we are both pinoys who grew up with the cuisine. The lumpia tasted very genuine and the shrimp was lovely. The mains; beef KareKare and Adobo, were both enjoyable even though very western in nature. I think you guys have done a great job to turn our cuisine into western-fusion-street-food style. Best Ube Ice cream I've tasted in New Zealand so far. Great job :)...
Read moreUpdate 15/09/23: Still amazing as ever. This time we ordered the calamari to try as well as some of our favourites from last time. The Calamari was mouthwatering, creamy and tender. I'd say it's the best I've had. We got both types of bao's and the chicken one was a typical example of a good bao. The steamed pork however, is something else!! Absolutely divine! It's been over a year since I've been able to stop in (I live ages away) and in that time I've hunted for a good bao and I've been disappointed each time because Hapunan ruined my chance of being satisfied with anything else 😆
Incredible food! It all looked so nice we couldn't decide what to get, so we ordered 4 different dishes. They were all delicious and an experience in themselves! The staff (or owners) were really friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was really nice! We'd drive out of our way to...
Read moreA long over due review! I had this at the food truck and not the store thats how overdue this review is. Laura and Aldrin are killing it, great service and even better food. The Lumpia were super crispy on the outside and bursting with a savory filling. The dipping sauce, a tangy vinegar blend, perfectly complemented the lumpia's richness, enhancing every bite. Yum! Pata Tim, next, was tender and melted in my mouth - cooked to perfection! the sauce was a balance of sweetness and umami, divine! Chicken Adobo del Diablo was the highlight of the meal packed a punch. The depth of flavor was remarkable, with hints of garlic and bay leaves coming through. lastly the Ube Pandesal with its soft, fluffy texture combined with the subtle sweetness of ube created a perfect balance. what a beautiful representation of Filipino cuisine, these dishes...
