Read moreVisited here with my partner recently on a visit from Sydney. Absolutely stunning location and setting that is absolutely not backed up by the service.
Service by one of the owners was slow and dismissive and felt like us being there was a chore for him. We came for a drink, but had no dinner plans, so had the service been at least a minimum of polite, we would have no doubt stayed for more drinks and food. However, based on the awkward and uncomfortable reception we received from the moment we walked through the door, we were already looking to leave before we got our drinks.
My partner took the time and effort to privately email them with constructive feedback on our experience, so as to avoid a Google review, but unsurprisingly, that has been ignored. This has now resulted in two one star reviews from us separately. I can also see another one star review for the same evening has been left by the woman who was sat on the table next to us pretty much saying the same thing.
In the Otago Daily Times, the owner is quoted as saying “We would like to remind locals and visitors what to be hosted feels like." If that’s your definition of hosting, you have a long way to go.
The food looks lovely and the setting is impeccable, so I’m not saying don’t go, just be prepared to not be treated as well as you...
Read moreWas very disappointed. Such a beautiful spot and I so like supporting new local businesses but the male waiter working there is so rude it’s insane. I so would love to go back as the views wonderful but I feel like the extremely pretentious highly rude guy working there made it so unpleasant I can’t stomach it again. I also watched him be so rude to a guy who ended up in a party of four but was waiting for them arrive and the waiter was so disgustingly rude I was astonished the guy didn’t leave! They need to understand outside of peak season you need to build rapport with the locals to keep it busy outside of season. The food was nice but quite limited in a pricey selection especially at lunch times when I notice they just aren’t realizing these things and it’s often empty . I hope that waiter doesn’t stay long. I would like to go there sometimes for the location but it feels like they have a lot to learn yet. Also maybe a few nice tasteful plant pots with greenery or little trees ect would give it more personality outside which is the spot where most people sit. Because at the moment when you are sitting there it just looks like a jetty nothing special other...
