While we had friendly service and tasted some beautiful wine, there is scope for improvement at this place.

During the tasting, we had to ask for the card which had more description about the wine each time a new wine was poured into our glass. Would have been nice to have been given this without having to ask the lady each time.

After the tasting we sat down in the garden outside, ordered a glass of wine and a cheese platter to go with. While there was a great selection of cheese, nuts and some figs it was all served in a paper plate with a plastic knife. Also the wine glass was made of reusable plastic. Given the fact that we spent close to $100 on food and buying a few bottles of wine to take back home, would have expected some nice touches such as a wooden serving board and a proper knife and glass.

Lastly when I asked for water, I was told to help myself to some water from a tap while the other tables had a bottle of water brought to them.

There are better wineries/ vineyards in NZ so I would not recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience authentic wine tasting experience in this...

My husband and I had the absolute best experience at Wet Jacket Wines. We arrived in Queenstown after a series of unfortunate experiences on the north island and couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Jaime was our Helmsman and what a delight she was. Personable, filled us with knowledge all about the south island. We learned a ton and it shifted the trajectory of the remainder of our vacation. The views are absolutely spectacular at their new location. The cherry on top is the beautiful tasting wines. We did not try one that we didn't enjoy. We purchased the 2021 Wet Jacket Gewyrztraminer however, we stopped at Altitude Brewing before leaving the area and accidentally left it under the table. We didn't realize it until we got back to our Airbnb. Lovely experience overall, highly recommend. We leave back to Minnesota, USA tomorrow but this was in our top 3 experiences on the south...

We had a private appointment booked at wet jacket for my mothers in-law 70th birthday! We had the delightful pleasure of having Jamie! This session with Jamie.all 5 of us walked. Raving about the expirence we all just shared with Jamie!

She was very passionate about the stories behind wet jacket and the owner Greg. We felt like we had just been taken back in history! We all walked away learning about the wines, the passion behind the story of the wines the business and Greg's personal aspirations regarding his wine! We also learnt so much a new Zealand's history. Was like taking a historical history lesson. Jamie we will be back to visit you at the new premises next year. Greg you have a deciated team. That are so proud to share your stories. REMARKABLE EXPERIENCE!! 20/10!!

P.S THE WINE...

My husband and I visited last year for a tasting… the wines and host were exceptional. Hence, it was no surprise that we found ourselves here within hours of arriving in Qtown. Charlotte gave us a warm welcome and did a nice job dividing her attention among several tables while still making you feel like you were her only customer (well done!). All of the wine is great… and we really enjoy the notes of passionfruit, strawberry and lychee that are a rare treat. We ultimately went with the Syrah which we love. And may stop back for more before we leave in a few days. You have our vote for best of the best here in Otago!!

We stopped in on a whim, trying to kill time on a rainy day before our flight home. I'm SO GLAD that I found Wet Jacket on Google. We sat and chatted with the owner, Greg, as he poured us 4 wines to taste. The Pinot Gris was well balanced and not to dry. The Sav Blanc was clean, with a fruity middle and some nice minerality with a light finish. The Rosé wasn't too sweet. The Pinot Noir was one of the best we've tried on South Island! The whole place is very well done. Great experience!
