The Winery - Arrowtown — Restaurant in South Island

I was really upset after my visit here recently because of the way a member of staff spoke to me. He was the duty manager that day (27th December 2022) and I don’t think I have ever been more shocked at the complete and utter disrespect and rudeness he showed me. I asked if he could show me how the wine dispenser worked with a card and he was passive aggressive, patronising and horrible. It totally ruined my experience of a place I have been to for years and loved and now I never want to go back. I toyed with the idea of going back the next day and confronting him but didn’t really fancy seeing his face again. Gone from bad to worse. Set up for the lounge is definitely closer to the original set up in Qt when it used to be in Oconnel. However the one in town didnt want to say hi to you. So we thought we try the arrowtown one. But wow. We were standing right in front of the counter while 1 of the western older gentleman was too busy to look at the update of the snow in the mountain online that we stood there awkwardly waiting to be seated when he finish with his news catch up. If its not becoz of my craving for mulled wine. I would have not bother and just go next door for hot choco. Mulled wine taste boozy but terrible taste like cough syrup and thats about it. Come here Sunday late afternoon. The two guys on gave great customer service and the wine knowledge was great and gave us very nice recommendations. We had decided to splurge that day and got the wine card for tasting. We had quite a few tastings and then two glasses each of our favourites. A MASSIVE stunning cheese board and olives which we smashed. It all only came to $130! So much cheaper than the wine tours advertised. You can stay here in one place sit outside with stunning views or sit in comfy chairs inside eat, drink and be merry. They have a huge amount of the gibbston valley wines. Get the bus from Queenstown for $8 return and spend some time here you will not regret it!...
