Me and my wife we always go for Thai food when we travel. We have tried Thai food of almost every major cities in New Zealand.
We were here on 25th Nov Evening after 5.5 hrs of drive very tired. Ordered mix Entre. There was two fried chicken wings after a bit it was raw in the middle but we ignored it as we were tired but the second was bloody after a bit.
Waiting attendant was very apologetic looking at him we didnt said anything he was good at what he was doing. And we were tired too.
Finally our mains arrived Pad Krapow Gai (Chicken Basil) and Pad Thai.
On first glance i loosed my appetite as it looked very flat as Chef was out of Dark soya sauce.
But sometime food tastes good even if its not appealing keeping this on mind we had our first bit. Then realised It is really awful. I am not Thai but i can challenge the Chef in making Pad Krapow Gai and Talking about Pad Thai was not not worse but it was below average too. And he was not using actual Pad Thai Noodle.
I am surprise that the local women complimented on waitress by saying “You guys are doing great”
Then i realised if this is what the restaurant was serving from beginning then of-course local people are brain washed as they really do not know the actual Thai taste.
The Chef should come to Rotorua and learn Thai food from The Amazing Thai restaurant.

RUDE MANAGER
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite our group of 19, including toddlers and kids, the manager and staff displayed an unwelcoming attitude. Shockingly, they refused to allow our children to continue consuming the food and drinks they were already enjoying.
The strict enforcement of rules against kids' food and beverages, especially when considering that even airlines provide more flexibility, was utterly frustrating. The staff's refusal to accommodate our children's preferences was unexcusable.
The manager's rudeness only escalated the situation. To top it off, they were willing to cancel our entire order over a single issue with a child's beverage, demonstrating a lack of understanding or consideration for families with young ones.
As a parent trying to navigate the situation by asking my 3-year-old to adapt to a glass for her juice, the lack of empathy and understanding from the staff only added to the ordeal.
This experience was beyond disappointing. If there was an option for a negative rating, I would not hesitate to give it. It's disheartening when an establishment fails to create a welcoming atmosphere, especially for families. I sincerely hope they reevaluate their policies and approach toward accommodating families...
Read moreIn a small suburb 20mins from Queenstown is Arrowtown. Here you’ll find boutique shops, cafes and a historical town. You will also find Arrow Thai on Ramshaw Ln.
If you’re planning to eat here, save your NZ dollars and go somewhere else. The food at Arrow is tasteless, small portion & expensive. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, we entered just after 1pm on a Tuesday with a few tables occupied outside but we were the only customers inside (I guess everyone went to the pub). The lunch special menu had 4 dishes to choose from costing about $15.5, including pad Thai noodles, chicken & cashew nut with rice, deep fried spring rolls with rice and Tom yum soup with rice. We requested no chilli and the dish that got served had no sauce or any flavour whatsoever. For this price, I would have expected a quality dish and possibly a drink included. If only I had walked down the road a bit to New Orleans, I would have paid a bit more to get seafood chowder instead!
Even more disappointing that they don’t even sell...
