I want to preface this review by saying, these are amazing pies. These are some of the best made pies I’ve ever seen. However, I’ve been travelling up and down New Zealand for the past year for work, and I’ve been on a personal little side mission to find the best pies in NZ so I’m reserving 5 stars for the best pies I’ve found. However. the current 4.8 star rating for this place is on point.

Make no mistake though, these pies almost take first place in my little pie inventory of great pie places. Firstly, the flavours are original, you won’t find these pies elsewhere and that’s an excellent point of difference to have in a small town. These pies are a reason to visit Westport. The way the pies are made is consistent in shape and size. The pastry is great, probably a little bit too thick for my personal liking, but I personally prefer too thick than too thin. I tried the Venison steak and cheese pie. The meat was cooked to perfection, perfectly tender and the gravy was a perfect compliment of flavours, it wasn’t too salty, and there wasn’t too much or too little. That aspect of the pie was perfect. In fact, my only critique of this pie was that in my opinion they undershot on the cheese. I would have preferred ever so slightly more cheese.

In terms of the customer service, I think it’s perfect for the kind of cafe that this is. Additionally, the atmosphere, decor etc is good and well suited to a West Coast pie shop theme.

The cafe is small, but not over crowded, it’s got a nice open flow, and it’s clean to a very high standard.

Definitely an asset to the Westport community. It’s been 20 years since I’d been back to my home town, and I’m glad this is the place I chose to have a...

EPIC... Wild Venison Steak Pie and a Wild Venison Steak, Bacon & Cheese Pie. Pineapple, Passion fruit and coconut cake + 2 large lattes $41; that's a great price in today's market.

Pies: Pastry was thick, properly cooked and the base was browned - yum! Filling: The venison was fat and gristle free, and beautifully tender. The pie sauce was well balanced. A subtle taste of red wine on the buds - yum. Sauce was thick but not floury, it was well cooked. Coffee: a strong flavour of Havanna Beans to go with the gamey flavour of venison. Cake, sadly I ate that b4 I took a photo, but I've added one from the cabinet. Base was a little dry, but the passion fruit curd middle more than compensated and the coconut icing was moreish. Service: Spectacular, staff were well spoken and served with a smile and very proud of their product - and so they should be.

We'll be back, thank you for the beautiful pies. From a very fussy...

Wild game tastes sooooooo different to farm raised and after we saw that that use Havana coffee we knew we just had to stop here and satisfy our taste buds.

We were not disappointed! There's a wide range of pies. I had a wild pork one (there's other yumminess in there too that complimented the pork) and my friend who is vegetarian even found a vege pie of chickpea, cauliflower & goats cheese.

The pies must've been yummy cos we were back there a week later when we were back in Westport stocking up on food again. We did a repeat on the pies & added almond croissant & a hazelnut chocolate croissant to our purchase (along with coffees, of course!). Sooooooo good 😋😋

Plenty of free on street parking outside the café, two outside eating areas if the weather is not raining and several tables indoors if you are wanting...
