Arrived at 7pm with 9 people on a Monday. They had run out of curly fries and IPA beer. A FULL hour after placing our order we were told they had "run out" of meatlovers pizza. The owner gave us two bags of potato chips to tide us over. ANOTHER 40 minutes later the meals finally started to arrive. One veggie burger order was supposed to be gluten free but was not. It was taken back and a hamburger arrived with a gluten free bun which was NOT meant to be gluten free. By this stage we had all had enough and we just told them to leave it. At the very end of the meal after we were all full we were offered free drinks. So we waited OVER an HOUR AND A HALF for our meals during which time other patrons were served their meals and had left. The crispy potatoes WERE good but not worth the wait. Staff (or perhaps the owner) blamed the suppliers and/or their kitchen staff rather than shouldering the responsibility. We won't be going back and recommend you steer clear. Head a little way up to the Ruby Bay Kitchen on Stafford Drive in Ruby Bay....the food there is beautiful and the...
Read moreVery disappointing. The beer is ok but you'll get much better down on the warf at Golden Bear Brewing. The cider is the best thing we tried. The food was the worst we have had in New Zealand (admittedly all our other meals have been quite good). The calamari was overcooked. We ordered a half dozen mussels and got a dozen, which normally I would be thrilled about, but they were overcooked and tasted off. The tandoori chicken salad came without the dressing and was quite dry. I had to walk back past the counter almost into the kitchen to ask for dressing, and at first they treated my request as if I was asking for extra and brought a tiny dish. It was actually good once we got a couple small dishes of the dressing, but it didn't make up for the overall experience. Once we pointed all of this out to the manager, she did refund us for the seafood. However, I can't understand how this place has 4.3...
Read moreNot bad for a family dinner all in all. Food 6.5/10 and atmosphere and comfort 5/10 Some atmosphere issues for us and the kids with one punter using foul language loud and continuous. No manager intervention there despite the early hour and other young families in for dinner. To be fair it's hard to escape these days, but I know what I'd do if in charge of anywhere offering a kids menu. Food ok ...Good quality ingredients all round but generally a little unadventurous in the flavours. This included kids burger patties being quite bland. The left over 1/4 pattie on our table being testament. Staff were pleasant to deal with but not that bothered. Would be easy to lift this place a few levels if management desired it. Thanks for the...
