K Chicken Hobsonville — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

K Chicken Hobsonville is an absolutely fantastic restaurant. Easily one of the best meals I've ever eaten. I had seasoned chicken on rice, with kumura fries on Saturday night. The chicken was perfect. It was still very hot, right out of the kitchen. As soon as I bit into the chicken, my taste buds exploded in a burst of euphoria. I thought it would never end. The chicken was cooked to perfection, not the slightest bit undercooked nor overcooked. The seasoned sauce was brilliant. The chicken was coated in the sauce, with just the perfect amount. Just enough to cover the chicken, but not so much that the chicken was drowning in the sauce. The cook that covers the chicken in the sauce should be congratulated. The rice was perfect, and piping hot. It was light and fluffy, and a very generous portion. The coleslaw was a nice touch on the side of the meal too. Onto the kumura fries. These too, were absolutely perfect. They were lightly seasoned with salt, just enough for some extra flavour, but not overly salty either. This too, was quite a large portion, for just 5 dollars. The whole meal was great value. The pure elation I experienced was amazing, and I wished it would never end. Furthermore, the wait time was extremely short. I received my meal within a few minutes of waiting. Never before have I been to a takeaway shop this fast, and of the same quality. Lastly, I just wanted to mention that the facilities were extremely clean, the staff were very friendly, and they had the cleanest restaurant bathroom I have ever used! K Chicken is a great addition to the Hobsonville Area. The price is very reasonable for half boneless chicken being $21. Would absolutely recommend the soy honey chicken as it had a well balanced coating and wasn't overly sweet. We also ordered the cheese onion snow chicken to try something new, it's not for everyone.

Some pieces of fried chicken barely had meat or was just skin and not all pieces were crunchy as the sauce had soften the batter. Could definitely improve with chicken piece cuts to prevent the inconsistencies.

All in all, considering that we ordered on the opening night with a 1 hour wait time, it would be safe to assume that they will improve on the quality of their fried chicken 🤞. Will definitely...

Boneless honey and soy sauce was pretty good. Well cooked and not too sweet. My order was placed on the phone and ready within about 15min. Service was great too. My 1 star penalty is due to a couple of minor things that could be done better- A description and heat scale for the various flavours would be super helpful More sizing options I think would be nice I realise that portions are based on weight but I feel quantity of pieces would be easier for most Online ordering was slightly problematic. At the end of the process I had difficulty making changes and wasn't sure if my order was actually submitted (it wasn't)
