Alberico's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Waikato

Sadly the food has deteriorated drastically from when this restaurant was located in Mannering St from memory. The food was inedible...spag bolognese had no tomato in it & mincemeat no idea what beast it came from. The pizza was disastrous.We had been warned the food was bad but thought to revisit for old time sake. Decor lovely...like being in Italy however sadly we left never to return. The bill was over $80 & the food was taken back when we advised we couldnt eat it. Waitress looked surprised but offered no explanation. As it was Tokoroa I took some time to write this review as I didnt want to dent the restaurant too badly however I hope that this review will empower the chef/owner to lift his game to the standards of old OR get another Chef. Wine choice was very good...very dare but that was the best part of the dining experience. Come on TOKE...we can serve better...

Chose this restaurant as it was across the road from the motel I was staying at. I was looking forward to a tasty, authentic Italian pasta with a yummy creamy sauce. What I got was a bizarre tasting pasta dish with curry through it. It was almost as if the curry was to disguise something sinister going on in the dish. The strangest flavour ever. I took 1/2 of it back to the motel because I paid $26 for it but I think I will offer it to some hungry wildlife rather than eating it myself. Received a piece of boiled unseasoned chicken breast with water still leaking out of it. Inside of this flavour-less breast was a piece of deli ham and melted cheese. Extremely disappointing and disgusting. When I told the waitress, she blamed it on “nz chicken” saying they’re free range therefore no flavour. ?!?
