I have been coming to Ophelia since it opened and I love it. It has always been a great brunch spot. Unfortunately I went for brunch this week and noticed a massive drop in food quality. The coffee was still very good. The place was also understaffed with one lady on the front counter expected to take orders, run food and make coffees. That's a recipe for disaster. My eggs Benedict had hollandaise from a jar in a little cardboard container on the side. The spinach was not wilted and the eggs were overcooked. The bread was also pre sliced value bread. I write this review not to complain but to get my favorite brunch spot back to how it was. The kitchen needs to be properly staffed and the changes that have been made to staffing and food quality in recent weeks need to be reverted.
Hopefully this is seen by the owner and some changes are implemented. If they are not I can't imagine this cafe will last long this summer. It needs to operate just like it...
Read moreRESPONSE TO OWNER My review was about the quality of food, service, and overall experience on my recent visit. Any suggestion that I was “benefiting” from previous staff, or that I was in a “state of shock,” is a serious accusation without any substance, entirely false, inappropriate, and irrelevant.
My feedback reflects exactly what I experienced, nothing more. Attempts to deflect from these issues with baseless insinuations are unprofessional and do not address the substance of my review.
I will be lodging a formal complaint with Google regarding this response
ORIGINAL REVIEW I have been a regular since this place opened, and after being away for a few weeks I returned today and was very disappointed in the food quality and lack of service. I personally miss the cheerful previous staff who knew the menu well and were helpful with dietary needs. For me, the experience is no longer what it used to be under the new ownership, so I won’t...
Read moreWell well well my darlings,
Haven't you heard the gossip, darling? Its true what they say about Ophelia, darling!
This place is the hottest in town! We were greated with a beautiful old home turned cafe.
You could see the everything being made before your eyes in the kitchen, it was so nostalgic, just like mumma used to make!
It was the little details that really complimented the experience; a lavender hand sanitser and freshly picked flowers in a vintage cup.
We orderd belgium waffles and the eggs Benedict, a ferrero rocher smoothie and a latte. The coffee was so good, we also ordered to go - OH BEHAVE DARLING!
I was joyfully shocked by the waffles, the presentation was beautiful with little flowers. I've never tried such a dish before, each bite was completely different and just unbelievably tasty! Although my wife really enjoyed the eggs benedict, the waffles definitely made my wife jealous 😋 😍
Thank you...
