Got dinner for 5. Wife had beef intestines and hand rolled noodles for $32 - large and excellent noodles. The dumplings where frozen with yuck chilly sauce. The seafood dish - they had gotten prawns from a sushi store and forgot to take the wasabi out from the raw prawns or squid, fail. The staff - who young woman, talked and shuffled clean glasses while we waited and waited to order, there inexperience showed and they tried there best - just hard to justify $240 with great atmosphere. Poor service with us as the only people in the restaurant, and chef came out speaking Chinese to my wife and in-laws - who don’t speak Chinese!
Staff - be attentive, be proactive, it’s like your scared of the customer. Honestly, you have one Hungary table in the entire Resturant and a cook doing nothing, you can’t ignore and shuffle stuff at the bar?
Food - not as good at Hamilton branch. Actually disgusting seafood with a massive glob of wasabi in the middle of it, is this a joke? Well it was a $23 joke on me. Don’t assume I speak Maori or sign language. Let alone another Chinese dialect, why assume and then just start talking?
Oh and please do not play music from two different sources (Chinese music from kitchen and Resturant music), having two songs playing at equal volume drives me crazy. You guys are doing your best, it’s unlucky that I wasted $240 for a family meal and it’s a straight up joke - wasabi in the food, ignored by front of house and then random Chinese dialect being spoken to with a assumption I understand? I am happy to be contacted by the...

Read moreThe cultural décor immediately sets the tone — detailed murals depicting traditional scenes line the walls, while stunning red lanterns hang from the ceiling, casting a warm, festive glow across the room. The ambiance perfectly balances authenticity with comfort. The menu offers a range of traditional Sichuanese dishes. The dumplings, were delightfully plump with a tasty, well-seasoned filling. They arrived steaming hot and perfectly tender. The sizzling cumin lamb was beautifully cooked with just the right char and an aromatic burst of cumin. Each bite was fragrant, juicy, and full of spice. Unfortunately, a few dishes didn’t quite reach the same heights. The spring onion pancake, stir-fried pork belly, and dan dan noodles were all serviceable but unremarkable — competently made but lacking the bold punch and distinctiveness that Sichuan cuisine is known for. However, the evening’s highlight was unquestionably the beef coriander salad. It was absolutely divine — bright, fresh, and packed full of flavour. The tender slices of beef paired perfectly with the crisp coriander and a zesty dressing that made the dish sing. It was the kind of plate you’d happily order again and again. Overall, this restaurant delivers an authentic Sichuan experience with a few real triumphs — particularly the cumin lamb and the unforgettable beef coriander salad — all served in a space that celebrates Chinese artistry and culture. While not every dish dazzled, the atmosphere and standout flavours make it well...
