The Coffee Club Cambridge — Restaurant in North Island

We did get a refund for our experience, however the experience was not fantastic at all. We went in as a group of 5, ordered our food (which was a rather long process in itself), sat down and waited. 4/5 drinks came quickly, however one coffee took about 15 minutes to arrive (and wasn’t that great, fine but not great).

Food arrived all at different times and by the time my partner and I got our food - everyone at our table had finished their meals. I don’t know how you can stuff up a Big Breakfast - but they did. Stone cold mushrooms and bacon, along with eggs like rubber and no sign of hash browns. I ordered French Toast with no banana, and that was the last thing to come out. The French Toast came out with berries - which wasn’t listed on the menu, and I didn’t want. The French toast definitely didn’t look like it had been dipped into an egg mixture and was lacking any “butterscotch sauce.”

Because the food took so long to come out - and definitely wasn’t what we wanted, we said don’t bother making anything else as everyone had finished their meals and were waiting on us. They gave us a refund but offered no apologies whatsoever for the sub-par experience.

I wish I could give ratings to this place in minus. Being quite regular to this place, I used to know the staff and now its all new faces. I met an ex employee yesterday in countdown, on asking has he left the job. He instantly said the Manager who is apparently also the boss there is someone no one would like to work with. Then he told me the whole story. Swearing at staff, throwing stuffs around in anger is what goes around there. He using the word "Mental Harassment" triggered me, hence this review here. This is New Zealand and one should not treat their employee like this. Just pathetic. And I also saw an advertisement up on facebook that this place is looking for more employees. The question is Why to hire more people if you cant take...

I've given a star for the location. This was a third visit and I find the staff particularly the lady owner who is always in the front taking orders had no smile whatsoever on the face. While looking at the menu we were trying to take our time to decide what we wanted to order. However she made it look like that she's in a rush while the cafe wasn't even full. I ordered open omelette with ciabatta bread. It was cold and the ingredients are there not well balanced. My husband ordered eggs Benedict, looked very plain. The potato rosti was the ones we use from Paknsave and there was no salad on the side.

The price is really expensive compared to Robert Harris or other coffee club franchises...
