A Star is Born in Titirangi: An Unforgettable Culinary Journey
★★★★★ More than just a meal – it was an experience.
Let me start by saying I've eaten my way through Indian restaurants across Auckland, from the fancy city establishments to the humble local takeaways. My visit to Titirangi Indian Kitchen, however, stands out as one of the most memorable Indian food experiences I've had in years.
From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting aroma of toasted spices and simmering sauces set the stage. The ambiance is stylish yet comfortable—modern lighting, tasteful decor, and just a really pleasant vibe that makes you feel like you're in for something special.
The Food: Where Magic Happens
We started with the Lamb Rogan Josh and the Chicken Butter Chicken, but let me be clear: these were not your standard, generic versions of these classics.
· Lamb Rogan Josh: The lamb was phenomenally tender, falling apart at the slightest touch of the fork. The sauce was the real hero—deep, complex, and layered with flavour. You could taste the careful toasting of the spices, the subtle heat that built slowly, and the rich tomato base. It had a robust, almost earthy character that was incredibly satisfying. · Chicken Butter Chicken: Often a safe, sometimes overly sweet dish, here it was elevated to an art form. The sauce was luxuriously creamy and velvety, but it maintained a beautiful tanginess and a delicate balance of spices that prevented it from being cloying. The chicken was succulent and had clearly been marinated to perfection. It was comfort food, refined.
We paired these with a Garlic Naan that was a masterpiece in itself—blistered and puffy from the tandoor, with just the right amount of garlic and butter—and a Pulao Rice that was fragrant and light, the perfect base for those incredible sauces.
The Standout Difference: What truly impressed me was the evident "handmade" quality. You can tell the sauces are cooked down for hours, the spice blends are thoughtfully balanced, and there's a real passion behind every dish. This isn't food cranked out on a production line; it's food crafted with care.
Service was equally impeccable. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on.
In a nutshell: Titirangi Indian Kitchen isn't just a great Indian restaurant; it's a great restaurant, period. It has set a new benchmark for me. The combination of sublime food, a wonderful atmosphere, and top-tier service makes it an absolute must-visit.
I left not just full, but genuinely happy. We'll be back next weekend to work our way through the rest of the menu. Do yourself a favour and book a table. You can thank me later.

Read moreI went to this restaurant before they changed to a new owner It was amazing before but on 20/10/2021 when I ordered some foods one of them was lamb Tika Masala which came as lamb tandoori 🤔 I also asked to have rice with each curry but received one rice I had to feed 4 people i also asked for 4 garlic Naans And they gave me 2 I asked them where the last 2 were and they responded by giving us one extra Naan and also there naans quality was horrible compared to before and the Food was cold I called them regarding there mistake, and they claimed that there lamb Tikka masla didn't exist Even though I saw it on the website. And after they told us that we could get some free food and it would be delivered but after the driver lost our address the food that was offered became cold and disgusting. Overall I did not enjoy it and I paided 82 dollars for 1 hour of waiting and disappointing garbage that can barely be...
Read moreI Had the prawn curry.. here is my review India was stoll under British rule the last time those prawns saw the ocean.
The service I understand hospitality and the shortage of staff and issues around all of that, so if you are a restaurant staff member with these issues let the customers know they will fully understand and be happy to wait. But no communication will cause issues like last night.
But the icing on the cake was asking for our order and we still had not been given our menus 25 mins in.
Conclusion Communication, honesty, and have more passion for food like your website says authentic flavour, freshly cooked with herbs, spices and locally produced meat and vegetables because those prawns...
