Generally a good place to shop, with helpful staff. My accolades cease now I'm afraid...
For many months only RARO NAVAL ORANGE flavour single packs are available at ~70c ea. All other flavours are triple-packs at about $1.30. Why? Because that is the only flavour that most poeple buy. I have checked. This flavour is available at all other supermarkets I have visited as triple-packs for between $1.09 and $1.30.
I have seen meat prices go UP instantly by $5-10.= / kilo on a temporary basis. And they had the CHEEK to offer most meats as special under this regime.
Most meats are grossly overpriced anyway. Plus, it is evident that no real butcher has ever produced the cuts. Steaks that vary in thickness from 10-25mm, manky lamb-loin chops that look like they have been cut by a chain-saw - AND still sell for now about 2.50 per chop.
I have today purchased a scotch-fillet steak that WAS NOT SCOTCH FILLET. Instead it was some other tenderized cut. As a steak it was bloody AWFUL. At the time of buying, I also noticed EYE FILLET for sale (at the usual premium price). This was obviously at a glance NOT eye fillet but actually SCOTCH-FILLET or similar cut.
About 6 weeks ago this supermarket was selling carrots (packed and loose) that were totally riddled with CANKER. No longer thankfully.
The potato brand Wilcox is rightfully respected by most consumers. I purchased two (pre-packed?) bags of their potato over two weeks. I have had to communicate my serious dissatisfaction with Wilcox directly because of the appalling quality of the product - including one potato going rotten. Wilcox is investigating.
Two weeks ago I purchased some organic potatoes sealed in a stapled brown bag. The potatoes were tasty enough. BUT they were riddled with blight. After peeling (necessary) I was forced to lance off substantial portions of the spuds to make an edible meal.
This is 3'rd world BULLSHIT. I BELIEVE THE OWNER/MANAGER OF THIS SUPERMARKET IS A PETTY...
Read moreI’m writing this with genuine disappointment after a very upsetting experience at FreshChoice Titirangi. One of the female staff members referred to me as “boy” in front of others, and while that might seem minor to some, it made me feel extremely small, disrespected, and humiliated.
I suffer from chronic anxiety and often feel like I'm being judged or targeted in public. This comment, whether intentional or not, cut deep and reinforced the feeling that I’m not seen or treated with basic respect. It’s hard enough living with this level of anxiety day to day. Being spoken down to like that in a place I shop regularly just compounds that feeling of isolation and being targeted.
I understand mistakes happen, but language matters. The way customers are spoken to matters. I hope this can be taken seriously and addressed with staff. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in their local community. Not diminished or labelled in...
Read moreBeen shopping here for years and most of the people here are really nice but I have to say, the prices on the shelves are more often than not INCORRECT. You get to the checkout and a bottle of drink that's VERY CLEARLY PRICED at $1.60 is $4.19. Especially with the Homegrown Juices! Its happened to me multiple times and still keeps happening even after you tell them about it! Mentioned it this morning and the lady started ranting and raving & blaming her staff, meanwhile the queue is half way down the isle. Normally a manager or owner would take responsibility for it, charge what it says on the shelf as per the FAIR TRADING ACT and brief her staff not to do it again! Simple Really! Very...
